There was no place to put a review for the boat ramp area. There is no "people swimming" - Not the best place to take your dog swimming as someone recommended the boat ramp area but people were fishing down there so we went to the boat ramp at the opposite area, across the street and it was stinky mud and seaweed at the entry to the water and not used much. We ended up leaving and going to check out another park someone recommended in Erwin, see my other review for that park. However that said, this is a nice big park to take your dog to walk and play in the grass. On that section I would give it 3.5 stars but it's pretty boring after you walk on the paved area, that's about it. There's a disc golf across the way, the parking lot is pretyy huge and this park is past the section that has baseball fields. This section has a children's playground and then you go to the boat ramp parking lot which is really huge.

UPDATE: April 22, 2023. Gracie and I still enjoy going although I'm unable to walk like before. If I turn my head for a second she is in the water as only a Black Lab will do. Now I need to remember to bring a towel!!!😅😅😅 I take Gracie, my service dog, and my best friend they're nearly every day when I'm physically able. She loves the huge open Fields to run and play in. Every time we visit, I am amazed at the cleanliness and the well maintained structures such as the public restrooms. I give Johnson City Parks and recreation thumbs up for the awesome work they do and maintaining this area. Although I do not have small children now, my boys and I really enjoyed the park when Boone lake was at capacity. The usable structures that they have currently, the jungle gym, swings and whatnot, are excellently maintained for your child's safety.

MY first visit here. I was looking for a place to do an informal photoshoot and used Google maps to check the area. Too bad that when we got there a torrential rain had descended upon us. We tried to wait it out, but it was relentless. So we drove around and found the Meredith Pavilion which had no users at the time. We ran to the shelter and started shooting! We ended up with some nice moody images, and, then the rain stopped, the sun came out and we just continued to shoot. For what I saw of the Park, it appeared clean and well maintained. I live 80 miles away, but I'll be back! Gotta' check out the trails...

Really love this park! From reading the reviews I find a lot of people have no idea just how big this park actually is. The first part is the pavilions and the softball/baseball fields. They have batting cages there, and a driving range, as well as some beautiful paths into the woods. Across the street next to the river there is another huge section of park with a boat ramp fishing a kids park and some beautiful paths to walk on. Further down the road on the right is a recycling drop off parking lot and on the left of the street there’s a little entrance to the backside of the park where there is a large Area for bikers and I believe part of the frisbee golf course goes that way too. This Park is enormous and beautiful there is a ton of stuff to do there very well-maintained and the concessions are good. The kids’ park on the riverfront is very good for small children I think children older than 10 would find it a little boring. There is not much shade for the children but there are some nice picnic benches under large shady trees. I definitely recommend lots of sunscreen going here. Dogs are welcome only if they are on leashes. And of course you pick up after them. But you can take them into the path behind the ballfields and it’s a beautiful shaded nature walk. Little tough going up the hill, not for beginners, but not just for...

My beautiful daughter Emily was baptized at Winged Deer Park recently and it was a day that I will never forget!! At 8 years old she already knows so much more than I did at her age. No one can tell me that being diagnosed on the Autism spectrum means that she can't do this or that. It's all about what SHE CAN DO!!! Trusting and giving her heart - soul - life - trust - etc to the Lord is the most important thing she ever could have done! She came to me to ask if she could be baptized and the Lord led her and myself every step of the way from getting saved and asking Jesus into her heart to this blessed day of Baptism! Winged Deer Park had several people there that day and I had completely blocked them all out as my attention was on my little girl. As Preacher Randy was bringing her back up out of the water I noticed several people were clapping and showing support of my daughters big day.... I pray that this event touched someone else to help them consider giving their life to the...
