I met Mark when I stopped by the Gladstone farmer's market. I'm new to gardening and had a LOT of questions. He was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
One of the initiatives that I love from Antioch Urban Growers is their effort to educate and enrich the community. I learned that there are educational classes, which also cater to students with autism. I learned that Mark likes to act as what he calls a "hub," to connect people who know things with the people who want to learn those things. I learned that he and a group of volunteers seed-bombed a stretch of highway with wildflowers and milkweed, to encourage the bee and butterfly populations.
This guy is the real deal. He's local, he's knowledgeable, he's friendly. Antioch Urban Growers is a wonderful part of this community, and I'm delighted to have found them.
