Early in the mornings is the best time of day to visit this beach. Nobody else is out and the tide is usually out. The occasional person you see is the island's dog owners and they are all pretty friendly. You will notice fresh tire tracks in the sand but I have yet to see any vehicles on the beach so I'm not sure when the locals/tourist are out doing Brodies in the sand but the tracks are fresh each morning. If you're a sheller, this is not the beach for you. All the shells on this beach are tiny, less than a quarter inch in overall length and usually broken due to the nightly vehicle donuts. We even saw it moving & rocking this huge rock/boulder. There are information plaques along the way with information about the history of Kauai and sea creatures. We only got to do a small part & decided we would explore another area in a few days. There is a public bathroom at Kapaa Beach. There are portable bathrooms at other places.
