Did the 3 hour kayak tour into a hike and secret waterfalls and the the motor ride back. It was presented as adventurous with the Indiana Jones rope swing pull.
If you are used to hiking or adventuring... opt for another option. The kayak part was fine- itâs like 2-2.5 miles of the river but the hike is a trail walk and the waterfalls are creeks. The rope swing spots were boggy and swamp like and not much like pictured.
You will get eaten alive by mosquitos and thought it will be wet and muggy you wonât break a sweat from exercise.
We stopped every 5 feet to hear our guides talk about the plants... and the 1.2 mile walk was a total time of an hour and a half because we stopped so much and actual moving time - cause you go so slow was 45 minutes.
This trail could be done in 20 mins . Not much to see and not strenuous at all.
Like I said. Just opt for another adventure. We did a helicopter tour and a zodiac raft tour that got 5 stars for outstanding adventure and unique factor - Iâd suggest that. Or just go kayaking or hiking somewhere on your own and create your own adventure.
Not impressed and kinda feel like a morning / afternoon was wasted here in Kauai.
Keith (one of the guides) had a great idea for a kayak, hiking (to some actual waterfall or mountain lookout and actual hiking), hammocking and beer (local) tour - that would be a great idea and something I think people...
Read moreI'm not very athletically inclined, so when my sister said, "Let's try this paddleboarding adventure!" I was a little iffy... We arrived early on a Wednesday morning; it was raining off and on, but the temperature was nice. They started us off with training and instructions and got us right in the water. I was the first one in my group to nose-dive [literally] off my board, but after that, it was smooth sailing... paddling, I mean ;) That 1 hour of paddling was the most peaceful, majestic, tranquil thing I've ever done in my life, and would do it again in a heartbeat.
Now the trail hiking for the next 3 hours after? That was a whole other level. It was raining steadily then, so the entire trail was slippery: GOOD QUALITY hiking shoes with treads are a MUST (*not cheap water socks you can get from the local drugstore - hint hint). The guides were patient and gave great information about the landscape, vegetation, and cultural history. We spent time at a few scenic spots that have been featured in major movies and had a very relaxing powered boat ride to take us back at the end. Heads-up: the minute you stand still, you will be devoured by mosquitoes, and if you don't stretch at the end, you won't be able to stand up for the next few days (hint hint again).
I consider this a life-changing experience and highly recommend it if you have the...
Read moreThis was offered through NCL as an excursion. The description did not prepare you for how amazing this experience will be on a day with good weather. We had a bit of an overcast day to start the kayak adventure down the river. Our guide was Mitch and he thoughtfully prepares you for the ride. He has cold water bottles and waterproof backpacks to keep all of your valuables. He makes the time to chat with all of the people in the kayaks down the river and prepares you for when you need to pull over for the hike portion. Thereâs a pond area down the hike where you can jump using a rope. This is fun and fairly safe if youâre not injured or ill. The whole trek took about 3 hours and youâre brought back on a boat upstream which makes it nice to enjoy the river and take pictures. The captain that takes you on the boat is all about safety and will guide you getting in and and out of the boat. This is a great adventure if youâre in Kauai. You can book them directly from...
