We walked this trail the first time on a sunny Memorial Day. Part of the trail is surrounding the lake. The other part is in an elevation deep in the woods. You get a mixture of sunny and shady areas, near the lake and uphill around the lake scene. Some parts of the trail is paved, other parts are not. We have seen people fishing, floating in the lake. We saw several big dogs walked with their owners. The medium size dogs did fine. The small size dogs may not do well on this trail especially in the steep and rocky roads. There are parking lots along different entry points to the trail. However, there is no public restroom available, only one portable "Honeybucket" set up near the boat launch area.
Otherewise, this is a trail with the City of Kent. The scenic view around the lake particularly the fishing area are covered with vegetation. We saw many geese, ducks, dragonflies, turtles nearby the lake. There are plenty of green lawn for family picnic, sunbathing or simply spend the afternoon admiring the...
Read moreSmall lake in Kent with some trails around it, with a bigger area nearby with disc golf, 141 acres all told. The lake itself is shallow, with many logs and snags, so not appropriate for swimming, letting your dog swim, or kayaking. There are several places for fishing and a floating walkway, and I believe the lake is stocked. There are a few parking areas that have easy access to the park, but be advised break ins occur regularly (at least, based on the amount of window glass in the parking lots). Dogs are welcome on leash. The restroom is a portable. This is really a 2 or 3 star park, but I'm giving it 4 stars for the wildlife. Tons of waterfowl (not just mallards and geese, but wood ducks, redheads, widgeons, bufflehead, gadwall, cormorants), but also songbirds, kinglets, a resident sapsucker, pileated woodpeckers, barred owls, and otters, etc, even though you're not far off the Kent-Des Moines road. Although not a destination, it's a nice way to spend an hour if...
Read moreGreat for swimming, nice trails (not really long but decent). My pups loved it!! There is plenty of grass to sit and hangout. There are only a handful of spots to actually access the water so it's best to find a spot on the grass and then individually walk down to the lake, instead of sitting right at the opening, SHARING IS CARING. There is a boat ramp but I wouldn't put anything heavier than a SMALL, 2-3 person boat\raft\kayak in that water. There are warning signs everywhere that there are a lot of plant matter\fallen trees and whatnot in the lake and to be careful while you're in the water (didn't think to take a pic of 1 while there). The water is crystal clear, until you walk in it, mostly mud, no rocks but there are sticks and some trash (cause people can't pack out what they pack in). Not a lot of parking spots (~100) but it's only 20, in each of the designated...
