I have rated EBSP 5⭐'s for years as we have stayed here for more than 8 + years. But after our 2024 trip. I have had to change this... I really hate leaving negative reviews, i really do.. but this was our experience. And we all know what opinions are... so take it as you will. Blessings JT

The road going in Live Oaks will knock your vehicles alignment out, and your teeth if do not dodge the massive holes. It is the worst we have ever seen it.

There was dog crap everywhere, you can see and smell it all over the park. We did not have our dog, but noticed there are no longer poop bags for dogs anymore. All of the trash cans this year are gone, to allow folks to throw that and trash away in. There are no trash cans in or out of the bath house or in the park, other than the one big dumpster. The bath house, needs help. You can see in the closet where the plumbing is when taking a shower, with the moldy shower curtains. We have and still do love Edisto. But the state park, it is obvious there is no money being put into keeping the Live Oaks area up. We do not stay on the ocean, so not sure what it is like down there. There were 5 sites that showed Host, and we only ever seen one. They would clean sites and the restrooms, and were pleasant when spoken to, or waved in passing. I much rather leave positive reviews and comments as there is enough negativity in the world. But this is my birthday and mine and my wife's annual Anniversary (23 years) trip the past 8 + years. And are thinking about looking other places next year. As Edisto has went down hill over the past few years. We live in SC and realize that the state parks unfortunately do not receive a lot of money, (if any from the looks of this and the others anymore, with the ACOE would run them like GA). But as much as they stay booked up some attention can be given to certain areas to keep the parks maintained at minimum.

Go see for yourself. This was just our experience.....

The park consists of several locations which unfortunately for us was not clear on the brochure so we had to double back to see the interpretive center on Rt 174 and then back to the beach area. The signs for the center are a bit ambiguous. We were not sure if it was the place we were looking for. When we finally got to it and parked we had to discern where to go and how to get in. As we entered the staff was busy chatting and took awhile to actually greet us. Over all they were more interested in chatting than informing us of what the center had to offer. The ranger talk based around the tank and it's inhabitants within the center was quite disappointing. Very unusual in our experience to have someone doing a presentation within the center unfamiliar with many basic concepts of the area. The center itself is worth a stop though as its displays are well thought out and informative. Having seen the sea turtle nest all over the beach in Edisto we were most interested in learning more about them. We ended up adopting a nest and the certificate and stuffed turtle that came with the adoption made the experience extra special. Unfortunately the staff was unable to tell us where along the beach it was but gave us a section of the beach where we were likely to find it. We did find it a bit further down than they guessed but not too far. The beach area has a very nice gift shop, bath house and plenty of parking. Over all a...

For a state park the sites are very close together with no separation, one reviewer even thought he had a buddy site but it was a single site. It's all dirty and dusty, sometimes that is ok but would it hurt to put a little gravel down so everything is not covered in dust or mud as those are the 2 options. Once you get past the close sites and overall dirt the sites on the beach are nice and walking distance to town for food. There are nice breezes off the ocean or marsh but bugs at dusk make it hard to have a fire. Finally you have to watch out for the snakes hiding in the leaves. There are leaf piles all over. While we were here for 6 days they found and relocated over 20 copper heads after a dog and 2 kids were almost bitten. The beach was empty which was nice of your looking for a quote beach. Cell service on Verizon was 118db or 103db with cell booster/ antenna. Barely useable for work or video calls. All the trees made for good shade in the sites but don't expect a good start link connection from most sites.

The adventure here was how primitive this park is when it could be really nice out was just tight and everything will leave dusty, salty, or dirty. Come on a beach camping road trip with us: US South East addition! (Plus a few bonus stops along the way) Hit them all or just a few, these are our favorite camping beaches in the South East US. We took our pop up camper on this trip, but all of these parks offer tent camping as well. 📍 Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Stay at the Ocean Lakes family campground, a HUGE oceanfront RV resort with pools, waterpark, and honestly anything you need right on site. 📍 Bonus Stop! Check out the Angel Oak tree in Charleston, South Carolina. The largest Live Oak Tree east of the Mississippi, on your way south. While it IS a back dirt road to get there, we were able to easily find street parking for our camper trailer. We also saw large RV’s easily find parking too. 📍 Edisto Beach, South Carolina. We stayed at Edisto Beach State Park, where most sites are right next to the beach (but views are blocked by the huge dunes). This was probably our favorite campground, the sites were beautiful with the big mossy oaks so close to the beach. 📍Bonus Stop! Skidaway Island State Park, Georgia. While not technically a “beach”, this gorgeous park is surrounded by salt marshes and wetlands. Campsites are gorgeous, with Spanish Moss covered oaks and a quiet peaceful vibe. 📍Jekyll Island, Georgia. One of the most beautiful places we’ve ever visited! Stay at the Jeykll Island Campground, the only campground on the island. Site are pretty but cramped, expect a full campground most of the year. Rent a bike to explore the island and be sure to visit Driftwood Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the US. We did this trip in about 10 days, which was perfect, but you could easily add more. Great additions would be Ocracoke and Hatteras Island, NC, Hilton Head, SC, and Saint Augustine, FL. Also some of our favorites! Now who’s ready to beach camp? RV travel, east caoast camping, #USbeaches #familycamping #familyvacation #bestbeaches #beachcamping #exploregeorgia #discoversc

Is this the best beach campground in South Carolina? Edisto Beach State Park is hands down one of the coolest beach campgrounds we’ve ever visited. With over 125 campsites right next to the beach, Edisto Beach State Park has everything from RV sites with full hookups to primitive tent camping, you can choose the perfect spot to set up camp. Plus it’s dog friendly! We love it for its quiet, low key beach atmosphere but there’s lots of fun things to do too. Take a stroll down the beach and go shelling or fishing. Rent a kayak or paddleboard and explore the waterways. Take a hike on one of the park’s nature trails and see the local flora and fauna up close. And if you’re looking to explore the area, Edisto Beach State Park is just a short drive from Charleston, SC. Take a day trip to explore the historic city or visit one of the many historical sites. #EdistoBeachStatePark #Campingwithkids #SouthCarolinaBeaches
