If you find yourself strolling along the town and craving a sweet escape, SugarTime Sweet Shop is your go-to destination for paying the typical overpriced beach tourist prices. This candy store, which doubles as a gift shop and beach novelty shop, is a treasure trove of sugary delights and whimsical souvenirs. From classic candies to quirky beach-themed trinkets, there's something for everyone. Just be aware that paying with a card incurs a 4% fee, sneakily labeled as a "tax" on your receipt, despite a notice at the register stating a 3.5% charge. Opting for cash can save you a few pennies and a bit of confusion. Now, let's talk about the bathroom. Imagine a tiny room that's moonlighting as a storage closet. Inside, you'll find a broom and mop that look like they've seen things—things that belong in horror movies. It seems like they've been standing guard for so long, they might just get up and clean the bathroom themselves out of sheer boredom. And boy, does it need it! The bathroom could definitely use a little TLC, or maybe an exorcist. Despite the quirky bathroom situation, SugarTime is an ok spot to some time picking up sweets and treats.

This place was a wonderful spot for the kids to explore. We stopped by on our family vacation. Sadly, it ended poorly when our 65 year old mother fell off the unmarked step and shattered their hip resulting in surgery. So watch your step! The owners have not once followed-up to check on the status of the hip replacement surgery. The lack of concern from them is saddening. For this reason- I will not support a business that does not show care for their customers. Edit March 2023- it has been 5 months and no word from the owner. My mother has had a full hip replacement. 23 rehab appointments. And has finally graduated to walking with no cane. We are pleased with her recovery. the above incident took place Oct 2022. I called many times and told each employee what happened (to which they all replied horrified) and I asked for a phone call from owner. I still have yet to receive a call back or reply of concern. If we were going to sue- we would have already. Their lack of communication is making me more upset each day. What happened to caring for one another?

If you are looking for candy this is a great place to stop. If you are looking for yogurt or ice cream I will warn you to prepare to be disappointed. When we were there they did not have the yogurt machines going. This could be due to COVID, but they just had signs that said out of order. The hand dipped ice cream was also a little sad. They were out of several flavors and some just looked old and freezer burned. It's hard for me to spend $3.99 for a scoop of hand dipped ice cream when I can buy a whole carton of ice cream at the store for the same price. Customer service was very lacking. The girls serving ice cream acted annoyed and put out that we even wanted to get ice cream. Overall the place just seemed a little sad and run down. They have windows overlooking the marsh, but many of them were clouded up and dirty looking. I would just recommend going to the food lion across the street for ice cream.
