Daves Computers and Clocks — Attraction in Kittery

Needed a house call for a grandfather clock that had been shipped to me from my grandparents in Chicago. Was working before they had it professionally crated and transported. We had gotten it set up and it was keeping time but chimes were not functioning. Another specialist had already been by and barely even touched it before telling me he had no idea. Since it was over 30 years old he couldn’t guarantee it would ever work again, but he could bring the mechanism back to his shop which would cost a few hundred and maybe even a thousand dollars depending on what he found to be the problem and what parts he might need (on top of the house call charge he had just levied for less than 10 minutes of his expertise). My grandparents were upset, so I promised to keep looking for someone else to help. Dave came by and immediately recognized the wood frame facing needed to be removed so he could see the gears, and low and behold one piece had slipped forward so it was no longer triggering the movement. He put it back in place, then went to work lubricating all the gears and adjusting the chime hammers so they sounded their best. He also took time to explain how the clock functioned and showed me how to keep it working like it should. Dave is amazing! My husband and I recently acquired a grandfather clock and 2 cuckoo clocks, all of which needed some help. Knowing very little about clocks, I looked for someone local in hopes of getting some repairs, and I found Dave, and boy am I glad I did! Not only was Dave able to come out to my house promptly ( actually the same day I called) he also answered all of my questions cheerfully and with a professional manner. He took the 2 cuckoo clocks to diagnose and repair them and he kept me in the loop every step of the way. Not only was I blown away by his amazing communication and transparency when it came to the repairs, but he continued to answer all of my questions. All of my clocks are working wonderfully and I have Dave to thank for it. I cannot express how amazing he was and how much I appreciated all that he did. I have had my mantle clock back on my home mantle piece for a little over a week now. I was so happy to have it back and hear its chime again. A very sentimental possession, I knew I had to find the right person for the job. I did my research and was very pleased with the outcome! Dave was just the nicest guy, took care of my clock in a timely fashion, told me exactly what the issues were and what I could do myself, in the future, if I had similar problems, and his fee was very reasonable. Although mine was not a serious problem, I will return to Dave in a minute if ever I have the need. I highly recommend Dave.
