came to this property with very low expectations considering all the bad reviews/how cheap it was to stay there. Arrived 20 minutes after check in time to be told I don't have a room, or any reservation despite making it 3 days ago online. Waited 20 minutes in my car in a snow storm before being very rudely offered a downgraded room, only to be given the original room I requested after all that time. Was a bit annoyed but that isn't the cause for the low review at all, paperwork mistakes look very easy to happen as the business looks to be ran out of the owners house. I get my room key, go into the room to discover trash filling the trash bin, pieces of trash scattered on the floor and nightstand, old cigarette butts left on the back porch, the bed linens reeked with a fish smell and did NOT look washed. I literally wiped all the surfaces down before touching anything, the dust and spider webs by the bed were a new level of gross. To top all this off, the TV remote did not work and there all no phones in the room to call the desk for a new one. With the thin walls not getting the turn up the TV at night got to hear both neighbors all night long. I will say a few positives about the property as well because this wasn't the WORST experience I feel I could have had considering the price; the bed was fairly comfortable despite the stank, the mini fridge and microwave were a nice touch I wasn't expecting, the tub and toilet were very clean, nice toiletries included (shampoo and soap), decent amount of towels they were also very clean, the room itself was also spacious. Overall not my favorite place to stay, you defiantly get what you pay for. For the 20$ more it costs to stay at a big name hotel you get so much more and a better quality stay...
Read moreTried calling several times to let them know I would be checking in late (as instructed on website), no one ever answered the phone. When I arrived at 7:00 p.m., I had to wake someone up to pay for my room and get my key. I explained I had tried calling repeatedly but could not get through. His response was simply, "She handles the phone, she handles the phone." There was no one else around, he didn't explain who "she" was or offer any assistance. He was also talking to me through a door, as the office appears to have been connected to a house. He tried to tell me I didn't have a room because I booked through expedia, and that just meant a room was available. He kept trying to end the conversation without helping me at all. I literally had to plead with him to get him to help with getting the available room, seeing as my reservation with expedia "didn't mean I had a room." He finally stepped into the office, asked me how much the website said I would be charged, charged my card that amount and handed me a key. When we finally got to the small cottage we had rented, it was rickety, dirty, and smelled like old pot. There were bugs in the sink, and on the ceiling. We lie down on the bed and it was so uncomfortable, we made the decision to leave. The man in the house attached to the office was so unfriendly, I didn't even want to go back to return the key or ask for a refund. We left the key to the room on the door handle of the office and found a place to stay elsewhere. I have never felt so unwelcome in my life. I have worked in retail for a long time, and I know people can be jerks, but I definitely was not and did not deserve to be treated...
Read moreObviously the other review regarding this motel is outdated, LET ME UPDATE YOU!
Booked the room online/WHAT A MISTAKE!
Mold, filth/dirt and dust around baseboards, knotty-pine paneling/obvious water damage and black stains=mold! Absolutely shocked at the condition of this place. Double pane windows with broken seals=moisture...perfect environment for mold.
Old air conditioning units strewn about at end of parking lot/along edge of woods.
Owner denied room had mold. Prior to seeing room I asked about an ice machine, "No ice machine, call front desk when you need it and I get it from my freezer!" WHAT??? Isn't there a health code about that?
Doesn't someone check these online advertisements...what a shock for unsuspecting travelers! Health conditions (reaction to mold) and condition of premises prompted us to leave, demanding full refund.
Upon returning home, I listened to a profane voicemail message from the owner of the motel using the "F" word/upset that I requested a full refund. Travelers beware.
Oh btw...Probably the only value at this place would be the "$5 Henna Tattoo"...so said the sign printed on 2 poorly colored pieces of computer paper taped to the check-in counter.
I write this review especially for unsuspecting senior travelers, anyone with allergies and for those of us who feel scammed by those who don't "show" the whole picture regarding their premises!
You may read my reviews on TripAdvisor for a "fair and balanced" review of the other accommodations that were far superior...
