I recently made my third annual visit to the Lakeside Lavender and Herbs in LaPorte for their delightful Lavender Fest, and despite the challenging heat and humidity, it was yet another beautiful experience. Nestled in the tranquil surroundings, this farm offers a serene escape with rows upon rows of vibrant lavender of all manner of varieties.
The Lavender Fest is a special time at Lakeside Lavender and Herbs, where visitors can immerse themselves in the fragrant fields of lavender. One of the highlights for me was the u-Pick event, which allows you to gather your own bundles from multiple lavender varieties. It's not only a fun activity but also incredibly satisfying to select and cut your own fresh lavender.
The festival atmosphere is further enhanced by the presence of various artisanal vendors. Each booth offers something unique, from handcrafted jewelry to art, all adding to the festive mood. The farm shop is a treasure trove of lavender products, ranging from home goods to luxurious bath and body items that encapsulate the essence of the farm. It's impossible to leave without a few lavender-infused goodies in hand.
According to their website, the farm welcomes guests from May through September, with the lavender fields in full bloom from mid-June to about August 1. The u-Pick season starts just before the 4th of July, making it a perfect summer activity.
Whether you're looking for a lovely way to spend a day or a chance to celebrate the beauty of lavender, I highly recommend attending the Lavender Fest at Lakeside Lavender and Herbs or just stopping by during their blooming season. It's a delightful experience that showcases the charm and natural...

If you park in the driveway and wander back to the office (feel free to knock), youāll meet Mike. Mike is amazing. This guy is very passionate about lavender, and it shows. He was excited to teach us everything about lavender: different varieties, different uses, how to grow, care for, and dry lavender. He even showed us some of the equipment he uses to harvest and process the lavender into the products he crafts. And his wife (who we did not get to meet) has put together formulas for some very nice herbal products. We spent over an hour there and enjoyed ourselves very much. Lavender is expensive but we found some really great hand-crafted items in his small store at reasonable prices for hand-crafted, herbal products. Definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took my girlfriend out on a Lavender date here. We got to meet Mike and Doreen, the owners of the field. They were so kind and accommodating and when you hear their stories, you can see the heart, soul, and passion that they poured into the place. They taught us which lavender to use for different uses, they taught us how to trim the lavender, and they helped us get a few perfect photos in their lavender fields.
The fields themselves are tucked behind a household driveway but they have signs posted. If you're in the area, I recommend giving them a visit, meeting Mike and Doreen, picking some lavender , and then stopping by their gift shop. If you're here on a hot day, pick up some Frozen Lavender...
