We've lived in Lacey almost 8 years and had NEVER heard of nor visited this wonderful park. We entered "a public place to swim" in Google and this park was one of their possibilities. Our granddaughters (14 and 10) had asked if we knew where to take them to swim so after learning of the park we took them there last Sunday - 19 July, 2015. We were pleasantly surprised and ashamed we had never been there before. There is a "fair" amount of parking, ample grass near the water (the ground has perhaps a 10 degree slope so setting up tables for pic-nic probably not a good idea but your folding lawn chairs work fine) and a grassy area near the parking which is perhaps 200/300 yards from the water. We found only a couple of park owned pic-nic tables near the parking areas that were nicely shaded - but - the water cannot be seen from these areas. The lake swimming is roped off, has an excellent and quite large foot travel dock and there were at least 6 or so life guards,, two on towers and the others just walking the dock keeping a very good eye on the swimmers. We're guessing there were 250 to 300 people at the park on this afternoon, there were no issues finding a place to spread our pic-nic blanket and set up our personal chairs, it was not overly crowded and there was NO issues with unsavory people. Cars were arriving and leaving all afternoon so parking was not too difficult. I say,, if you've not visited this park - do so. You will be...
Read moreMy neighbors were talking about this lake so I took my daughter it was nice to cool off. You can’t see the bottom of the lake when you’re swimming which freaks me out. There were bathrooms and grassy parts. No place for sand castles but the water was cool not freezing like the ocean though. There’s a volleyball court. What I did love honestly was there was moms all sizes in their swimsuits. Kids were swimming on floats, rafts, it really was nice. I would bring a blanket to sit on and a cooler. There is no lifeguard. This is 100% free too. This lake is a nice hidden gem. Also there was a police officer that would walk around...
Read moreI started coming here since I'm new to town and dont have a Discovery Pass yet. This is one of a few parks that don't require the pass.
I come here with my inflatable SUP. There is a good sized area for wee ones to swim and a nice area to the right to launch SUPs and kayaks. It's a good park, bathrooms have always been clean. Volleyball courts are in good condition.
Most visitors are families with kids but everyone has been pleasant!
Worth visiting if you have kiddos or are looking for a good place for beginner...
