it was fun going to the fair for the first time ! and thanks for the canned food discount. I gave more than one can. pray for the needy ! Everybody was really fun and friendly at the fair.
However, as I was leaving (and this is NOT a reflection of the county fairgrounds or staff, but it's the only place to add this) I was CONFRONTED by an ANGRY YOUNG LADY by her residence where I parked (near 6921 stanfield road just around the corner, across from the side entrance of the presbyterian church who were also nice and friendly) .
She angrily glared at me and said "You can't park on our private property" . I had parked on the grassy strip adjacent to the road just like everybody else down the entire street. She was alleging that this strip of grass is their private property. However, I looked it up later and FOUND THIS:
"City of Lacey Rules & Public Right-of-Way In Lacey, the area between the curb and sidewalk—commonly called the planter strip or planting strip—is typically part of the public right-of-way, not owned by the homeowner... City standards specify that these strips are intended for turf grass or vegetation, particularly where on-street parking is common City of Lacey+4Thurston County+4Lacey Municipal Code+4.Homeowners are responsible for maintaining (mowing, weeding, planting trees) this area, but do not hold ownership or exclusive use rights over it" Therefore I was absolutely legally parked on public property, NOT her private property !!!!
SHAME ON THIS YOUNG LADY NEAR AT OR near 6921...
Read moreI've been to many Fairgrounds in Washington and for a smaller fairgrounds this place packs a punch year round. This location has everything but large arena. The staff are amazing and always working hard to give you a positive interaction when you come across them running around during events. Oh ya events, this fairgrounds is busy year round with small to large community and private events. You can find bazaars, fair time, livestock events, FFA and 4H events and other summer, fall and winter markets onsite. They offer ATMs for nearly all events at a very reasonable withdrawal fee as well which is very convenient. The location isn't that far off I5 and near the heart of lacey Washington so if You are coming for an event you are close to many box stores and grocery stores if you ever need supplies. Parking is pretty large but there is a hill to walk up for larger events like the fair , but smaller events have their primary parking up on the main grounds so access is much closer and easier. If you are looking to hold an event here you will find an Expo Center, Kitchen Area Units, Lots of outside electrical outlets, big bathrooms, large scale livestock areas, an amazing Heritage Hall Log Cabin Building for weddings, markets, bazaars and more and a few other building a for holding your events. I highly recommend this...
Read moreConsidering the size of the county, one would expect a larger County Fair but this one reminds me of Othello's. There are barns featuring every loveable animal 4-H and FFA members can show: cats, chickens, sheep, pigs, beef and dairy cattle, and horses... along with endearing babies of each. The barns are well maintained and the hard earned ribbons displayed. In addition to the Funtastic Carnival, the Commercial exhibit booths, there is an arts pavilion where you can assist in selecting the people's choice award for adult and youth photography, a miniature working railroad setup designed like a village and controlled by railroad enthusiasts, and best of all, a pavilion filled with exquisite quilts from which you can vote for people's choice. Several carnival food vendors hawk tempting fair food, but there are also local non-profits and restaurants that serve up deliciousness with a friendly smile. Don't tell my Republican friends, but the Demo burger is delicious and cooked to perfection, and made a nice combo with a blackberry pie milkshake from Canna Cabana Gourmet Subs, Milkshakes, and Munchies, a 4.6 hot spot from down the...
