If I could do 0 stars I would! I am so mad at this company right now! Not only are their products way over priced, but they are now also ripping customers off with shipping. They have a new flat rate shipping policy which is $15.00 per box. Well, that's fine since they say they ship through UPS. However, I paid this fee thinking my order would come through UPS. My package was actually sent via USPS and sent in a small flat rate priority envelope that shipping is only $5.05 on. I was charged triple for shipping. I am a seller myself. So I know the actual costs of shipping. That is what I charge my customers. I wouldn't dream of ripping my customers off on shipping. Completely unacceptable!!! I asked them when my order shipped if I was going to receive a refund on shipping since I saw they shipped USPS. I never got a response. I will be taking my business to bead and trim from now on. They have the same items I got from shipwreck for a lower price. They also only charge the actual cost of shipping. I am done being ripped off by these people. I see other reviews that have had the same issue. They should not be allowed to over charge for shipping. It's stealing from customers, plain and simple. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Companies think that customers are stupid and don't know how much things really cost to ship. It's robbery and an insult to everyone's intelligence!
On top of all of this, the flat rate envelope my order shipped in is a very thin cardboard envelope. There was no bubble wrap or any protective packaging what so ever! My order consisted of crystal pearls and hallow metal rhinestone beads. All of which could break easily. Miraculously, everything was in tact. Thank goodness, since they would probably charge me to reship any broken items. I'm not shopping here...
Read moreIgnore the negative reviews.... This is a very unique Warehouse jewelry and bead supply shop! When you first enter in, you have to go through a few hallways to get to the room with all the aisles. I feel like it's intentional to keep theft from happening, considering the stuff is so small. The employees there are kind, every time I asked question about anything. They were honest and helpful. Their stock was a little low today, but I still was able to find so much! I think it's important to see when they get a shipment in, and come shortly after that. Wasn't super busy either which is a plus, gave me space to look around and not be in anyone's way. The majority of supplies feels like it's beads, but there's also different projects you could do, like macrame. There was a huge variety of horn, bone, craft and bead projects as well. Overall, I think it depends on what you're looking for. If you want to go here for charms, this isn't the place because they only have a little bit of that. But if you want to experience something different, roam a big store, it definitely is worth it! You can also get chain cut by the foot, which is super helpful if you need a certain amount of chain for a product. It does look like a warehouse outside, but they have an open sign, the parking lots usually empty which is a plus. I highly...
Read moreI know it is amazing that one could be disappointed in a store as vast as this one. However, I found they don't even carry what I consider to be the best seed beads for precision bead weaving, which are Toho and Miyuki. They do carry Miyuki Delicas, and a very small selection of Toho Treasures, which are tube shaped beads, but the only round Japanese seed beads they have are just generically labelled Japanese.
The other beads I use for precision work are Superduos, which are a two-holed bead, similar to the Twin bead, but NOT the same, and I find the Superduos to be superior. Shipwreck sells Twins and not Superduos. The clerk I talked to didn't know the difference. In fact, there was a sign over the shelf that said Superduos and all the beads on the rack were Twins. When I explained that they are not interchangeable she just walked away and said that was what they had. Did not think it mattered.
Among the many seedbead weavers that I know, most view Toho and Miyuki round seed beads as the best. So why would a huge supplier like Shipwreck not carry them? I suspect the suppliers of the Czech beads have made it part of their contract. People who don't know the difference (which you won't find out until you try doing precision work with Czech beads) will just buy the Czech beads, and of course...
