Wonderwood Park — Attraction in Lacey

Wonderwood park is one of the most beautiful and diverse parks in the Olympia area. There are ballparks and playgrounds, tennis courts and covered picnic areas, but the walking paths are my favorite part. The trees here are eerie and wonderful. When a tree falls down and decays, seeds of new trees land on the rotting stump. They then grow through, or around the stump, and eventually the stump decays away completely and leaves a tree that looks like it is standing on stilts, or leaves a hollow in the base. In some cases several trees growing ot of the same sump have grown together to become a single tree. In others, you have an evergreen and a maple growing ot of the same stump, twisting around each other as they grow, competing...

I love this park. It's huge and has 2 park sections. One section has smaller big toys and has a little mini 1 hoop basketball area. I love going to this part, it's more secluded. The other section has much bigger big toys. I like the new stuff they put in it. Love the musical toys, it's so creative. They have lots of trails that you can walk through that all connect to each section. They also have a paved trail that connects the two park sections to each other. They have a tennis court. They have a full on basketball court at the bigger section. They have picnic table areas for eating. They have a covered area for eating like if you want to have a big group there. This is one of my favorite parks and always holds wonderful...

This was a very nice and very clean park. I came here for a party and had a great time. We used one of the picnic areas and they have 2 bbqs and 5 picinic tables. So plenty of room for a bunch of people. It was clean and shaded under a pergola. The park was placed really close so I could see the kids and that was wonderful. The trails were nearby so we could go for a short walk when they got a little restless. I would have given this a 5 but the bathroom smelled bad and had nothing to dry my hands. But I was thankful they had a bathroom. I would most definitely visit here again when I am in the area. Oh and the parking was fine...
