I try to come here every weekend for a hike or a walk depending on the weather or how sluggish I'm feeling. I absolutely love it here!
Here's what to expect:
It's beautiful, green, lush, well paved, partially shaded, and there are hills for a great workout I'm not sure if it's just me, but the air seems fresher here There are more people strolling along the lake than there are runners Avoid the crowds by coming before 9am Family oriented so expect lots of kids, dogs, bikers, and strollers There's a children's playground near the parking lot Several hiking trails on top of the hill but no shade so don't do this in the heat Picnic tables, BBQ grills, you can openly drink in public (yasssss!) Rentals: paddle boat and canoes, Fishing: $5 day pass permit Paid parking lot up the hill Lots of clean water fountains Portal potties all around the lake or a restroom near the entrance Near Downtown Lafayette where there are a lot of great eateries. My favorite is brunch at the...
Read moreYOU MUST PURCHASE A FISHING PASS AT THE OFFICE BEFORE YOU CAN FISH!!! AND YOU MUST HAVE A VALID FISHING LICENCE FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AS WELL. The office DOES NOT SELL state licences.
Quiet for the most part. Lots of walkers and runners every day of the week. Bikes are allowed on certain days, be sure to check their website for days. Fishing is pretty decent. They plant trout in the late fall through spring and plant catfish in the warmer months. Bass action is "less than stellar" mostly dinks. Please clean up after your dogs. There are poop bag stations all around the lake on the walking paths. LOCK YOUR CAR DOORS because there have been several vehicle break-ins in the parking lots that I'm aware of. The office is a great place to find information on what to fish for, where to go and what to use. They do sell earthworms...
Read moreEnjoyable 3 mile paved walking trail. My friends informed me this paved hiking trail must've been recently repaved, as it looked new. You have beautiful scenic views everywhere, and you can see occasional wildlife as you walk along the trails, such as wild turkeys, squirrels, and deer. Paddle boats, and flat bottom boats are available for rental here to ride across the reservoir. Day camp areas, pavilions, and barbecue pits are available. Toilets are readily available about every 100 yards or so. This is a good thing. Overall, it was an enjoyable afternoon/evening. Memberships are available for this place as well. You get a great parking place, and I believe you get discounts on boat rentals/facilities as well. Great place for famiilies to go and enjoy, and the kids can learn about nature and wildlife. Two thumbs up, along...
