Barker Ranch Dog Park — Attraction in Lake Forest

Nice park & the regulars are great. They really screwed up the shade, though. They removed the structures over the benches, then put a big fabric cover over the back end of the big dog side. Obviously, whoever made that decision doesn't visit or watch usage patterns. The only time people hang out there is when it's crowded (Friday night, weekend mornings), because there isn't enough space to all be at one end. Otherwise, it's the poop zone. People used to hang out on the backside benches, but now that they aren't shaded the benches don't get used much. And in the mornings, half the shade is on the other side of the fence, given the direction of the sun. The city claims the direction of the sun changes by 30 degrees during the summer, so it'll be more effective in the summer, but putting the cover over the middle or other end would have been a simpler, more effective solution. Really poor planning, our tax dollars...

The dog park it's self is okay but the people who take their dogs their are careless and don't care about others dogs. As I was gathering my things to leave a lady opened the door and her daughter opened the second door both doors where open as the lady was talking to someone else and the dogs were just escaping. I was able to grab them and hold on to some of the dogs but even the dog owners were unaware of what had just happened as they were too busy talking instead of making sure their dogs were still inside of the facility and the lady who kept the door open did not care nor did she appologize. I personally babysit a lot of dogs and I like to take them to the dog park but that means the dog I may have may not listen to me if they make it outside of those gates so it's a safety concern and hope this never occurs to anyone because a dog can get seriously hurt if owners don't take causion when opening the...

This park sucks now, waited the winter to come here and enjoy some zoomies until it gets dark but they installed a security system to lock it automatically at 8 pm without any notice, after a few months they got it to work properly and hired a security guard to kick you out, it looks like the people living close by are not animal lovers, in addition it always stinks becaus of the fake grass, they should just shut it down together and put up a...
