I'm just going to put it out there and say what needs to be said. The Board of Commissioners and everybody else that control the access to the dam along with the electric companies keep the damn closed off Downstream so they can maintain the water levels for all of the rich folks Upstream of the dam. It's absolutely ridiculous. I grew up in that area and the fishing at Bagnell Dam used to be great and now it has become a sad pathetic excuse of what it used to be. The water stinks and even standing there you can see the silt and the slime floating on top of the water. The Lake of the Ozarks has become too worried about commercialism and they are no longer worried about conservation or anything of the sort. From now on, I will choose a much better area to go fishing because this place has fallen so far off the map that it's just a sad shell of...

We visited a few weeks ago when all 10 flood gates were open and dumping water like there was no tomorrow. We first started right at the wall and then drove down the road to the boat ramp. It was very full, the water was almost to the blacktop and shortly after we arrived, a ranger came to tell everyone they had to leave for safety purposes. Both areas have ample parking but only the boat ramp had restrooms and those are restrooms you should ONLY use if you are super desperate. :-( It's a nice place to picnic and if you've never seen the dam structure up close, it's pretty impressive. Apparently in the old days, you could tour the facility, but that doesn't happen anymore. When you see the signs on the side of the road that read "Overlook" or Dam anything, explore it. There are many nooks and crannies around the dam that we haven't even...

Was the best and worst weekend of my life. The best me and my wife had a absolutely beautiful time. The bad. On the way home back to cedar hill Missouri my wife and I were in a horrific car accident that took my beautiful wife's life at the very young age of 34.the pain in my heart is I walked away with not even a scratch. She leaves behind 5 young children my 3 children and me. Out of all the heartache I know with out a doubt it was the best weekend we had spent together in the 15 years we were together and I thank God when he decided it was time for Tasha to go she felt no pain...

We stopped here. We did not stop here to fish or launch a boat, but to check out the dam, and this did not disappoint. We first went to the Wilmore Lodge to learn about the history, then went to the overlook, and then headed down to the public access. All in all, it made a great outing for us and our family while we were on vacation
