Willow Creek Park — Attraction in Lamar

Off the highway in southern Colorado, park built as a WPA project along the water. There was a disc golf course, a skatepark, a playground for kids and a little tower to climb dedicated to Zubulon Pike, plus open trails on either side of the creek. Great spot to drive through, as a road goes through the entire park as well as adjacent streets running on both sides, or walk around and stretch for a while!

I stopped at this particular park when I came to Lamar from western Kansas, as I needed to stretch my legs after four hours of driving. The park is very immaculately clean, the walking trails are wide enough to support multiple people, and it was very nice to just walk about.

The only qualm I have about it is that Pike's Tower is run down, in that there is graffiti as you climb towards the lookout point. The view from there is...

I love this park. Great auto entrance and a beautiful drive thru the park. There's the public pool, with a new slide, walking trails, skate park, reservable picnic area for groups, lots of summer events, ,(Contact Visitor Center in Lamar, Colorado ).
