La Mission Villanueva — Restaurant in Lamar

We used to eat there at least once a week when we lived there. We knew the owner personally. The food and service was excellent as we knew all the wait staff and cooks. Felt like we were treated special, especially when I was a county commissioner. We haven't live in Lamar for five years, but are in town at least twice a month and always eat at the mission. Lately it seemed different. The food has always been excellent, but the service and friendliness has been going downhill. Today was the worst. We waited a normal time for a menu and our drinks, but after that it was a nightmare. Waited probably 15-20 minutes to place our order. Then after waiting another good 30 minutes we finally asked a different server if he could check on our order. Our waitress had never come back to check on our drinks or anything. Finally she came by to tell us our order was accidently turned in to the back kitchen by mistake, but they would jump on it. We continued to watch several other orders come out and still not ours. We watched as several tables that came in after us finish their meal , pay, and leave. Still no food. When it finally came over an hour from when we arrived, she apologized and asked if we wanted anything else. We asked for silverware, a refresh on our iced tea, and for the ranch dressing we ordered. Also she mixed up two orders. She did get our bill to us promptly. The least she could have done was offer us a free sopapilla. Needless to say, the afternoon was shot. Our lunch guests has to scarf theirs down as they were late for another appointment. Had it not been my birthday and wanting to enjoy our visit, we were very tempted to leave. The sad thing is they weren't even busy as we got there just before 1:00 P.M. Next time I doubt if we will be so kind or patient. Food was good once we got the orders...

I usually get good sevice when i eat here but todays sevice on saterday October 17th was a joke we were waiting at our table for over an hour for food we even had to ask another server what was taking our order so long and our sever during that time didn't even check on us within the hour we were wating to see if we needed anything or to tell us what was going on with our order sevral people who came in after us left before we even got our order it seemed like we were the only table who wasn't waited on it felt like we didn't even have a sever if i had to give a review for todays services out of five stars i give our server a 1 out of five stars for lack of sevice towards our table tha tr being said i wouldn't give the restaurant bad review for one severs bad service after all the other sever who took over when we were trying to figure out what was going on was attentive and very kind to us considering how long we were waiting if i had a different server today i would have been much happier with my visit the second sever we asked for assistance was our sever today in my book because our official server wasn't even there until we started complaining about our sevice to...

The only reason I gave them 3 star was because of the young lady, food was 2.5. This restaurant was recommended to us by several local residents. There was a delightful young lady that first took our drink order and brought chips and salsa. We then waited awhile for our server, she took our order and we again waited for the food to come, obviously they have to cook it and it takes time. Ran out of chips, server never stopped to see if if we needed any refills. Server brought food and I asked for more chips, she said she'd bring more. The server never came back to ask if eveything was okay. No chips, no refills on drinks. They had about 6 total tables at this time. I had to get up to ask for to go boxes and the check. A different server brought the boxes, still no check. Asked the you girl walking buy if we needed to pay at desk, she said yes or our server would bring it. Still waited, finally got up to pay and saw our sever, she rolled her eyes and said she'd be right there. I went to car since I was quite frustrated at this point. Food was okay, service...
