Wow! I'm not one for museums, my fiancé loves them. This was so cool. Only $6 and there is so much to see! Everything is nicely kept and I loved the way they had it all arranged. Two floors and a pioneer town out back. The town was the coolest. We spent a good two hours here and can't wait to come back and see the tribal dance.

A very warm recommendation to visit this museum when you are in Lander. Operated by locals. We ran into a enthusiastic Smokejumper in the museum. The music boasts information about the region and the history of the town itself. A great place to start a holiday or trip in Lander or it's surroundingas.

Good museum! A lot of information on everything from agriculture to mining to skiing to life in the 1800s to cheif Washaki and other info. The recreated historical town was interesting to check out as well. It is worth checking out, especially if you are interested in Western history.

This is a great little museum. There are rotating exhibits featuring different aspects of both Western and Indian art and culture. This is a unique museum because it isn’t full of your standard western expansion exhibits and focuses mostly on the Lander and Winds regional history. It is perfect to spend 30-60 minutes for a quick visit or spend multiple hours if you’re a western history buff.

The outdoor western town recreation is also a nice addition and consists of around 10-12 buildings for the kids to explore.

We would happily visit this the next time we’re in the area.

If you’re a local resident make sure you let them know to get the lower rate. Even as a visitor the rates were...

Very nice and sizeable museum of the local history. I was disappointed that the first exhibit that greats all guests is a story of a few white guys being killed by native men. That is a purposeful perpetuation of the stereotype that native people were violent savages. There was no easily observable mention anywhere (I did not find any) of the attacks of white settlers and the US military against the native people. Another disappointment of the whole area is that Washakie and his tribe are celebrated so much in Wyoming only because they worked with the Americans and fought against other...

Super friendly staff that truly enjoys where they are to say the least. So much information around that you could literally take hours in there looking at different things and reading. Went on a slow day and had the whole place to ourselves. Snow was on the ground and everything was locked but they offered to open up anything that we'd want to take a look in which was above and beyond and makes me want to stop by anytime I come thru this way...
