I booked a cabin for the weekend two months in advance for a birthday trip. I booked in person at the lake office. When I was there, I stated I wished to stay two nights, gave my phone number and address and offered to pay up front. The girl working that day wrote my contact information on the calendar and marked the two nights for me and said not to pay then, but upon check-in. Cut to check-in day. I called the day of check-in to confirm what time we could get there. An older man answered the phone. Before I could even get out my entire question, he cut me off and said he had to get his calendar. After allowing me speak again, he asked my name. I gave it. He said that he did have my reservation in the calendar, but the girl who took it put it down for one night and not two. He also said that he could find no contact information and that since they didn’t take my money up front he was good to go ahead and book over me, which is what he did. He said I was free to try and book for another weekend, but they have only two cabins and they book them quickly. I said that I am aware of that which is why I made the reservation two months in advance. Also, I had to take off work and coordinate other schedules for this trip. He said there is nothing he can do and that I get punished because a young girl the company hired didn’t do her job correctly. He offered nothing to me except that in the future if I do business with them that it should go better. I am unsure why if the reservation was clearly on the calendar, and the company knows that it was an employees’ error that caused the mix-up why they booked over my appointment rather than either keeping the appointment as they saw it, giving me the option to add another day, or even charging the full two nights even though the calendar only stated one since that is their policy on the weekends. I am very put-out. I have been planning this trip for months, have my car packed and have used my time off work for nothing. The icing on the cake was the rude way in which I was told that they deleted my reservation to accommodate someone else. This display of customer service is one of the worst ones I’ve experienced. I will not do business with this park and DO NOT recommend anyone else...

Beautiful place, mostly friendly and helpful staff. Campsites are nice and have water spouts, grills and a fire pit. There is one shared bathroom but no shower. You also get a fishing day pass (you still need a NC fishing license) I have camped there several times in tent and cabins and had very different experiences each time. I was just turned away and had to sleep in my car after being refused a tent site for getting there too late (but still before closing ) and was told they do not allow you to rent after 6pm or on the same day...which I have done both several times before. That young boy was the only not friendly staff I've encountered. When I asked to rent, he just said no. I had to ask why and he seemed annoyed with me but did answer. The cabins are nice and equipped with a microwave and mini fridge. They also have ceiling fans. The entire lake, park and campground is very well kept by staff. You also get a nice size bundle of wood for...

I’ve been visiting this park for over seven years, and I’ve always loved it. However, my recent visit was quite disappointing. Over the past six months, the park has taken a significant turn for the worse. One side of the pond is completely blocked off and overgrown with weeds that are taller than I am. This used to be a beautiful spot to walk by the pond, but now it’s a mess. I’m not sure if the park did this or if someone else is responsible, but almost all the trees on the trail that goes through the woods and is hilly have been cut down. This is disappointing because I really loved the park for its natural feel, but now it doesn’t have that anymore. The trails are also not being maintained at all. There’s a lot of water runoff, and you can tell that the roots have been exposed, making it hard to walk on. Whoever is responsible for this park needs to do better. I wish I had...

This is a beautiful park tucked away right next to the town! My only complaint was that it was very difficult to find the park office when I was looking for information on the park. The first pond is pretty, but the lake further back is even better. It has a beautiful floating walkway, with a shaded pavilion in the middle where you can sit or fish. There is also a beautiful babbling brook that meanders its way through the park. In addition, there are fields next to the wooded areas where people can play sports. Kayaking is $5/hr, with a 2 hr. minimum. I think that's very reasonable and would love to try it sometime! Disc golf is only $5, but you have to put down a deposit of $25 in case you don't bring the discs back. The disc golf course is really fun, though it's a little hard to understand the route.

The park’s well-maintained trails are ideal for a relaxing hike, and the serene lake is great for kayaking and paddle boating. For those who love fishing, the lake provides a quiet and scenic spot to cast a line. The amenities, including the option to rent kayaks and other equipment, make it easy to enjoy a variety of activities.

My husband and I stayed at the Overlook cabin the week of of 8/20 and we absolutely enjoyed the peace and quiet ..we fished and looked on the grill outside.. the cabin is up on a hill overlooking the lake.. it was clean.. and private.. I will continue to visit this place.. even just to come fishing and no cabin..
