Food Lion — Local services in China Grove

RACIAL PROFILING: The managers of this store need to address their self-checkout employees immediately. One too many times have I went to self- checkout and was prioritized to be watched. Prioritizing to watch me over everyone else using the service is inexplicably frustrating. I have never been racially discriminated against at this rate in my life. Invading my personal space and privacy to ensure that I am not stealing is going too far. As a black paying customer I am willing to drive a little further to get the respect that I am owed as a human. This company/location desperately needs to implement some racial bias training. On 7/19/24 around 8:00 PM, the self-checkout employee made my family and I extremely uncomfortable. Also, this is NOT the first time this has happened. In fact, it happens every time I visit this store....

I like Food Lion anyway it is very good place to buy your groceries and other stuff. But this time was exceptionally good. Without me knowing paid for the item I was going to purchase which was carton of eggs beavers. I was talking with the cashier a little bit and he was checking out . I am very thankful. I can stand up just not straight. The men paid for the item that I was going to purchase and I did not know anything about it. Until the cashier told me it was already paid for.the only thing I regret is not getting the opportunity to thank him in person for what he did for me. Although I did try to think him but it took me to much time to get cash back. They're are not very many people light him in the world anymore today. But thank God for him. If I had anything to do with it it would come back to him...

It's a grocery store... nothing particularly special or noteworthy. Not like we go "Hey! I know what we should do... Let's go down to the local FOOD LION!!!". Will say that the few times I've interacted with the stockers they were pleasant and helpful, and most of the cashiers do a good enough job, but the general attitude of middle management can be down right comical at times. Love the "lord of all that I survey" looks they have when watching their subordinates. I get a good chuckle from it. All in all, it's a small town grocery store that I'd rate as "adequate".
