Played Saturday at 3:00 pm. The course was fun to play and was mostly in good condition. The afternoon tee sheet was pretty empty due to 100°+ temps, so the course was pretty wide open and our pace of play was excellent. But overall this course is overpriced, especially for locals who have plenty of other great options.
Here was the feedback I have to TPC in their survey about how they can do better:
Actually staff the bag drop stand. I pulled in and had three golf bags to unload. There was no one at the stand. I waited a minute or so and eventually just unloaded the bags and parked the car. Came back to the bags and no one had come up, so I carried all three bags back the the pro shop entrance area. Once we got keys to carts, we loaded the bags ourselves. Paiute costs half as much to play (as a resident), and they have multiple people working the bag drop, load clubs on carts and drive the carts to the staging area. Big miss for TPC!
Maybe have the halfway house open when you have golfers in the course so we don’t have to waste time driving all the way back to the clubhouse to spend our money on beverages? Or if you’re not going to keep it open during play, notify players so we have a chance to stock up before we start the round.
Pay attention to when golfers are coming into the clubhouse (in our case, it was at the turn). We walked in for drinks, served ourselves from the fridge, and stood around waiting for someone to come to the bar and ring us up. Then a guy came from somewhere in back, looked at us, and just stood at the other end of the restaurant talking to another staff member. I had to start walking towards him before he walked over to ring us up.
Side note: my guess is that each one of these pieces of feedback would be met with an attempted explanation that’s tied to the time of day we played (3:00 pm on a Saturday). I get that there weren’t a lot of players on the tee sheet. But if you’re going to be open for business and take our $175 pp (where’s the real love for locals, btw?), then I believe the level of service provided should be commensurate with the premium rates you charge. The lack of service could almost be excused if you dropped rates due to low demand (3:00 time in 100°+ heat), but that aspect of the experience was a tremendous let down considering what we paid to play. If that’s what I can expect at TPC, I’ll gladly continue to patronize courses like Paiute, Bears Best, and Rio...
Read moreI am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent golf experience at your course on June 11. 2024. I was playing with a group of 4 friends, 2 of whom are single-digit handicappers and the other 2 have handicaps around 12.
Upon check-in at the pro shop in the morning, we were pleasantly greeted by two friendly staff members. We were also informed that the 17th hole was under construction and that we would be skipping that hole and replaying the 1st hole for free. We teed off at 9:11 AM.
On the 4th hole, the marshal approached us and said we were 10 minutes behind and that we needed to speed up to match the pace of the group ahead of us, which was only a single player. We were confused as to how we were expected to keep up with a single player when we were a group of four. The group behind us also consisted of only two players, and all subsequent groups we encountered were also two-some.
On the 7th hole, the marshal approached us again and once again told us we were 10 minutes behind and needed to speed up. We informed him that we were playing at a reasonable pace, but he continued to insist that we needed to play faster and refused to listen to our concerns. We eventually asked the two-some behind us if they would like to play through, and they politely declined, stating that they were comfortable with our pace.
The weather was extremely hot that day, reaching 106 degrees Fahrenheit. To make matters worse, the water misting fans on the 15th hole were not working. This was particularly frustrating as we have played at TPC Las Vegas several times before (approximately 5 times) and have never experienced such issues.
Overall, our experience at TPC Las Vegas was extremely disappointing and far below the standards we have come to expect from your establishment. We felt that we were being treated unfairly and discriminated against due to our group size and ethnicity (Asian American).
Furthermore, it is nonsensical to expect a group of four players to maintain the same pace as a single or two-some. If you are going to enforce strict pace-of-play rules, it would be more logical to limit tee times to two players per group.
In conclusion, we urge you to reconsider your policies and procedures to ensure that all guests have a fair and enjoyable experience at your course. We would appreciate a response to this review and an explanation of how you plan to address the issues we have...
Read moreHere’s the (mostly) good and the (nit-picky) bad. The practice facility is impressively over the top. The conditions of the course overall are impressive enough to host a tournament next week if needed. The greens are in great shape, which is to be expected from Bermuda in the summer. There are some very interesting holes from an architectural standpoint, and the integration of the canyons meandering through the layout is a marvel to look at. 13 to 18 are the most scenic in my opinion. The conditions are seemingly always fantastic from every time I have played, and you can tell the maintenance crew does a great job. Here is my criticism though. With a course this nice, the critique gets very intense and nit-picky. What separates a great course from a fantastic course to how memorable the course is after the round if you have something really memorable to take away from every hole. The best courses I have played, you can remember every shot with ease because where you are is so stunning it’s just hard to forget. I have a hard time explaining. At TPC Vegas, while some holes knock it out of the park, some are just designed in a way that just doesn’t have the same significance from hole to hole, but rather holes you are just playing through to get to the next good one. While the conditions are 10/10, it cannot make up fully for lackluster design all the time, and it shows very slightly. Aside from the golf course, and on a more basic level, it would be the fact you’re spending so much money on a round and can’t get free bottles of water! I play many courses at much lower price points and they give me water, especially on those hot 100+ days. Not TPC Vegas! The clubhouse is alright but considerably utilitarian. No frills and nothing there more than to show off a little on the walls about the success of its sister course across the street, and some basic amenities in the locker rooms. Albeit, most public courses here don’t even have a locker room, so, this is me nit-picking. You can tell overall the course is geared towards tourists. Which is fine if you’re a tourist. Overall, this is a great course that I will definitely play again. It is incredibly fun, gorgeous, and well-maintained. Definitely on the higher end when it comes to public courses. Not elite but sure to provide a quality and memorable...
