Homestake Offices — Attraction in Lead

The museum was very cool with an awesome 3D model of the entire mine which was quite impressive. A lot of info on the DUNE project too, the largest research project since the Manhattan Project with some really cool visuals too. The highlight though was obviously the open pit part of the mine itself, with some incredible views from the museum balcony. The guided tour offered was exceptional. Our guide was a man named Dan R. a long time employee who has retired from the mine. His depth of knowledge and willingness to share it made this experience one of a kind. I would recommend the tour of the Homestake mine and with it the city of Lead SD to anyone who has interest in the gold mine or local history. ...
