This is a beautiful City Park. Be aware that only Service Animals are allowed in most of it. By the bathrooms, it lists what area leashed pets are allowed. My Epilepsy Seizure Service Animal, Bailey, is carried in a bag made for her, so we did not have an issue. If you are used to Texas, be extra attentive in Tennessee to let employees see that your dog is a Service pet. While not required by Federal Law to prove this, it will make things a lot easier for you and your family if they understand you are not blatantly breaking the rules. What counts as Private Property, as the looser rules seem to be in Texas (9th Generation Texan here), they will yell at you for using the grass even on the edge of the public road, at least in Gallatin, Lebanon, Hendersonville, Centerville as well as even Nashville Metropolitan had a few people scream at me even right after mine was just bitten by something. I made it clear I understood the rules and was making a beeline off the property, which was not marked or fenced in or anything that would constitute Private Property. I said, "Okay, I am sorry!" They were like, "Whattttt Was that?!!" I was extremely unnerved. I never would purposely put anyone at unease. My husband only gets to sleep in his own bed 5 days a year. These times together are precious to me. We are paying state taxes and not getting any refunds for it, even though this is not our home state. The hotel taxes are included in this as well. We also do not ask this state for health insurance. I have been extremely respectful and feel that, honestly, only a few awesome people I have met see that. I know to them I am not a local and may seem weird because of my seizure-related symptoms, but not sure how hard I have to go overboard on respect to be a...
Read moreI have taken my grandchildren there in the past. Not so much anymore because they're older now and I'm disabled and it's very difficult for me to get around in there. As long as where I want to go has a sidewalk leading to it I can get to there. The ground is very lumpy and bumpy and not wheelchair or walker friendly at all. But for the mobile and active people it's a wonderful and fun place to go. Two events that stand out in my mind are bark in the park. My husband and I don't take our dog because she wouldn't react well with that many dogs around because she's a traumatized dog. But I think it's a great event for those who can attend. Another event is when a representation of all the different emergency services of Wilson County gather together for a day and evening fun and information. You can find everything from hot dogs, chips and drinks to face painting. Lebanon, Police, Mt Julliet Police, Wilson County Sheriff, WEMA SCAN I don't remember every agency who was there. Most of them have literature and a freebie to hand out. It's a very fun and educational event well worth attending. That's one thing my husband and I take our granddaughter to every year at...
Read moreAs a local, we frequent this park regularly. However, with the size and uniqueness of the different activities I would be willing to drive! This park has everything from a large, covered picnic area, to a splash pad in the summer months, playground equipment geared towards different age groups! I am also happy to see equipment to accommodate children in wheelchairs! It is a treat to have a park of this quality & size here in Lebanon. It is as nice as most newer parks you'll find in big cities!
I almost forgot, to include the exceptionally nice, paved walking trail. Almost half of it is lined with beautiful trees & stations to stop at and exercise along the way, as well as swings to take a break and kick up your feet! Don Fox is located conveniently close to places to grab food afterwards or run errands at one of our several grocery stores or local businesses. I highly recommend this park, it has something for everyone! There is always a good time had by all...
