The wife and I brought a 4yr old and 13yr old to go pumpkin picking. It is 10$ a person and that includes 1 pumpkin for each person. You can go down to the field and hunt for the perfect pumpkin there or take advantage of the large selection the staff has setup near the entrance. In addition there is a huge field of sunflowers that you are welcome to pick (small saws are available at the admission window for cutting the stalks).
Before we even began to collect our pumpkins and flowers the kids were able to play on/with the many activities that cover the area just beyond the admission. Including 2 giant jumping pillows (imagine a bounce house with no walls), 2 slides, a few lawn games, some pedal carts, a few farm animals and a mini pumpkin cannon area where you can launch mini pumpkins at targets in a field. (We did this last time we came, but not this visit, I don't remember if there was an additional charge for the pumpkin cannons)
You can grab a cart at the entrance and walk to the fields or take the tractor drawn train which will bring you down and then back after you grab your pumpkins/flowers. We split the difference, we walked down with a cart, then the 3 girls rode the train back with 3 pumpkins while I walked the last pumpkin and the ridiculously large stack of sunflowers w/ 2-3' stalks, back to the entrance while pulling the little cart.
In all we were there for a couple of hours, had a ton of fun. Well worth it in my book.
Heads up- The sunflower fields have honey bees that are just quietly doing their thing. They were super mellow and you should be able to just ignore them, but people with allergies to bees should take note.
It's a field in a farm....expect shoes to get wet and possibly muddy if you go off the grassy areas after it has rained or because of early morning dew.
The farm store was closed while we were there, not sure if covid related or time of year or whatever. They did sell some drinks and beer and there was...
Read moreWe recently visited Temple Hall Farm Festival for the pumpkin patch experience, and honestly, it was quite disappointing. We paid $15 per person for admission, but it really didn’t feel worth it. The overall experience was underwhelming — the pumpkin patch itself was not well maintained, and there were hardly any pumpkins left in the field. The few that we did find were surrounded by overgrown bushes, making it hard to even walk through or see the pumpkins clearly.
Compared to other pumpkin patches and farms we’ve visited across Northern and Southern Virginia, this one didn’t come close. The field didn’t have that festive, clean, or vibrant fall atmosphere we expected. We were told we could pick sunflowers too, but unfortunately, there were none available when we went.
The only good part was that each person was allowed to take one pumpkin if they found one — but even that was difficult due to the condition of the field. We managed to click a few pictures, but overall, it didn’t meet expectations.
Would not recommend visiting this place — especially when there are much better, more enjoyable pumpkin...
Read moreTemple Hall Farm is such a fun spot for a family day out! The kids loved roaming around, meeting the 🐷 pigs and 🐎 horses that wandered right up to us—total highlight! The mile-long loop trail was a nice walk, and the giant bounce pillows had everyone jumping with joy. The playground, huge tunnel slide, and cute barns kept the kids entertained for hours. We also enjoyed picking 🎃 pumpkins and chilling at the picnic pavilion. The farm’s open space and chill vibe made it perfect, with just a few other families around. Wagon rides added a cool touch. Clean, well-run, and a blast for all ages—I’m already looking forward to our...
