The museum is filled with amazing fossils and experiences of finding them. As well as historical artifacts providing understanding about living life on the prairie as well as history of the Native Americans and the impact of the army and cowboys impacting their culture and lives. They have a gift shop with 3-4 bookcases of books relating to everything in the museum with some being local authors and poets. They also have a statue created by Joe Lopez an international metal artist in a can’t miss location upon entering the beginning of the museum after the gift shop. Read moreThis place is awsome,also they have great restrooms and are close to gas food and very nice lodging try the chicken across the street,the staff are wonderful the displays are captivating there's cool art in the parking lot area you get to watch a movie meet a giant dinosaur it's great for kids you learn alot about local history from ye olde(and I mean dinosaurs floating around chomping stuff) to geology to thr home steading times and some wonderful info on local rodeo.so if your nearby or not so nearby stop in and have a good time.the gift shops nice too so buy something nice,check out the books ,and support a good cause and labor of love that's...

I'm saying for being in Lemmon South Dakota, and free to get into it's a nice museum and great place to stop for a stretch of the legs. However the John Lopez "Hugh Glass" sculpture in the museum is 5 stars amazing and worth the stop alone as is his metal dinosaur sculpture outside.
