my grandma, daughter & i stopped by on january 31 as we were passing through town heading to mott, nd.
off the bat, service was very confrontational; my grandma had went to the restroom while my daughter and i sat down and were told "we're lucky we made it as they were about to lock the door" this was before the listed 2pm closing time; shortly after noon - so, we offered to leave and got told it's fine to stay. we proceeded to order; hot roast beef (meal of the day) for my grandma, a child's corndog and fries & a dr. pepper for myself. our meals came within 5 minutes of being ordered, which was odd as we ordered full meals. my grandma's roast beef & toast was ice cold topped with hot, steaming gravy. my daughter's corndog was frozen with raw batter still. my dr pepper tasted like soap. the only aspect of of meal(s) that was good were the fries with my daughter's meal snd the water my grandma ordered.
while dining we heard hostile comments about there "being one table until she can leave"... louder than the conversation we held at our own table.
the owner did comp our meals, but continued to make comments about how she "had" to give is the meal for free, even we offered to pay due to the way the comments made us feel.
upon leaving, we chose to wipe our own table as none were wiped as guests left. they were very quick to lock the doors and head to their own vehicle, even beating us in the time we made it to ours. tables and floors still unkept.
we appreciate the offer of the free meal, but the way we were treated from the moment we entered was absolutely unacceptable, especially when we've offered to leave AND pay...
Read moreHere from out of town went for brunch it was ok staff was pleasant . Prices were a little high but it’s a small town and they need to make a living so not far from what I expected . 2nd visit ticked me off. Ordered FF and gravy cause I’m a ND girl and that’s what we like . Went to pick them up, 4.29 popped up on the register thought that was fair so it was fine. Then she added another 4.99. I asked what that was for and the gal said it was for the gravy. I said “ excuse me?” It was a small styrofoam container less then half full. So with tax10.00 . For 3.00 more I could’ve got the hot beef to go with it. I asked the gal why she doesn’t warn people or make the suggestion and she said others pay for it and it’s a small town. I live in a tourist area where everything is high and I u derstand. But in a small rural community if you make things so high priced the locals can’t afford to eat out it’s very hard on your business . This little place could be a hopping busy all day place even with just serving breakfast and lunch. I don’t even feel the gravy was home made it tastes like packaged dark brown gravy, but hey it’s Ff and gravy. Probably won’t be back there to eat even tho I will be here a bit and back again in a few weeks and that’s so sad because there was other stuff I wanted to try on the menu. Oh well. Like I said food was just ok, atmosphere ok , staff ok, prices ridiculous for something so small and the comment “ I just work here” is a...
Read moreBorn in McIntosh. And went to school there as well as here in Lemmon a long time ago. In fact, on this side of the highway there used to be a DriveIn A&W place. But I digress. 40+ yrs away from Lemmon and it looks mostly the same. And, we ate at Alaska Cafe. In my life, I been in Alaska 19yrs. So I was excited about the name. I ordered a burger and fries type meal. My kids are picky eaters, they loved their food. Great food, great service and conversation with staff. No problems, no complaints. I wish McLaughlin had a great food...
