Here's the review
I recently had the chance to play the 18-hole disc golf course and it was an amazing experience! The course was beautifully maintained, with lush green grass and vibrant foliage throughout. The holes were challenging but fair, with a good mix of short and long shots to keep things interesting. I loved the variety of obstacles, including water hazards, trees, and hills, which added an extra level of difficulty and excitement to the game.
The scenery was also stunning, with several holes featuring beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. The course was well-marked, with clear signs and maps to help navigate the holes. Plus, the staff were friendly and helpful, offering advice and tips to improve my game.
One thing that really stood out was the sense of community among the players. Everyone was friendly and supportive, cheering each other on and offering words of encouragement. It was a really positive and uplifting atmosphere, and I felt welcome and included from the start.
If you're a fan of disc golf, or just looking for a fun and challenging outdoor activity, I'd highly recommend checking out this course. With its beautiful scenery, variety of holes, and welcoming community, it's an absolute must-visit destination.
As an added bonus, the course is located near a car wash and campsite that are definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. The car wash is convenient and easy to use, and the campsite is a great place to relax and unwind after a long day on the course.
Overall, I'd give this course a solid 5 stars and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and challenging disc...
Read moreShawnee Mission Park Disc Golf Course is an intermediate course ranging across wide fairways amidst mature trees. Back 9 plays up and down gentle hillside. Golf-style mowed fairways and thick roughs. Alternate pin locations dramatically change the feel of most holes. Set in large multi-use park. The course is in good shape and generally well maintained most of the times except some years it seems the park is cutting back on mowing expense and the rough can be a tall as your chest in places. There is usually quite a bit of "rough" but stay out of it and you shouldn't lose any discs. Signs on all of tees though some may be showing some wear and might be slightly inaccurate as far as placements goes. Should you be unlucky enough to have to wade through the tall rough, you should check yourself for ticks after your round, and be alert for deer in the evening hours for glow rounds. Plus 1 stroke penalty for hitting one....
Read moreThe park is large, very well maintained, and clean. The disc golf course is good sized with most of the holes spread out to avoid interference. Only two or three holes are side by side. There are multiple pin positions for each hole. The baskets are pretty new. There are good benches at almost every hole. There was a nice mix of elevation changes and technical shots. Challenging for our intermediate group without being punishing. The park has a lot of visitors and the disc golf course was busy on the nice spring afternoon we went. There are park ranges on patrol and the park is super family friendly. We will definitely...
