The park is amazing but the events person is a mess.
My husband and I were really looking forward to having a baby shower here. My husband’s family is out of town and my family is more local. It was perfect for a coed/family shower.
I emailed the events team requesting info. The experience started off well and I received a response within a day. After receiving the packets and reviewing the email that Hayden had sent, there were several contradictions.
As we were going to pay for our guests admission (approximately 100 ppl), we were going to spend a lot and wanted some clarity regarding the provided information.
Hayden stopped answering emails, if she answered it was not consistent. And she was not available for phone calls. Every time, besides once, when I called, the gift shop staff either gave me wrong availability or said she was away for the day. They also gave me a disabled number for ‘somebody else in the events group.’ The only time I was able to speak with her on the phone (Wednesday), I heard her and another employee laughing at my reaching out. During the call, I scheduled a meeting with Hayden for the following day (Thursday at 2:30).
I still wanted my baby shower here since we were having families and it would be an experience for our guests. However, the meeting didn’t happen. Hayden had her friend/coworker call me and said “Hayden couldn’t meet because she had another meeting. She will call you later.” I’ll save you the suspense, she never called. At this point, I would have been shocked if she had. I left 4 messages with the gift shop and she never returned a single phone call.
See attached for email and call logs. (The only time KS ever called me was when Hayden’s friend cancelled the appointment for her.)
I’m 5 months pregnant and this is not worth the hassle. If you do your personal event here, know that you will be treated as an annoyance regardless of the money you intend to spend.
As previously stated, the park is amazing but the event staff, and their communication, could...
Read moreWent on mother's day.. the line was to the back of the parking lot. We already purchased our tickets online. No separate lines. No staff anywhere to even ask how long it would take.
Stood there for 10 min. Barely moved. Our toddler was running all over and it was not safe as other parents were chasing their kids as well since everyone was standing in the parking lot. We decided we couldn't wait. The line was literally from the entrance to the back of the parking lot.
So, we decided to take the loss and check out the safari. Not too much of a wait to get in as they had that line moving quickly. Boy were we in for it. Got there at 3:00 and didn't get out of the park until 5:00!!! We literally waited 30 minutes around first the bend in the woods to feed the buffalo. Then as we very slowly got through there, another 30 minutes as we approached the zebra hill. Finally once through that, we waited 45 minutes to get through the gate to the llamas! Many cars were just "cutting" in to the last gate once they seen how long the line was. Holding us up even longer. We seen one staff member and that was to shoo away the llamas etc from the last gate.
Our toddler was done as we were too just sitting there for SO long! There really should be staff that drive around and tell other cars to move along or to stay in their vehicle. We seen several people get out of their cars and pose with the animals and feed them in person. Some people even were yelling at these people, a nice middle finger was given to them by the rule breakers. Some vehicles sat there for 10 minutes at a time.
We did get to feed animals, pet them and watch them run/play around. Which was awesome! Great safari! Would of loved to go through the park itself. Some notice on social media or staff outside would of helped the situation. Especially for those that came from out of state and planned...
Read moreI drove 3 hours to visit this Safari. I intentionally picked a gloomy day. Less people means hungry animals, which means I got a lot of Animal love. This Safari isn't very big nor too small. I felt it was perfect. This isn't a typical zoo, these animals actually have space and appear healthy, they dont knock you down to eat as if starving. Very clean and well maintained. Staff are pleasant and eager to help (though you probably won't need much help with anything). They offer you a complimentary map of the property. I do recommend bringing a pocket of quarters for the animal food machines. You don't get much for 50 cents. I did purchase a bracelet to get food for the animals but it runs out fast. For 2 of us admission, food bracelets, a small snack and drink was approximately $40. Which doesn't include extra animal food nor special events (in our case gem mining). Parking was plenty. Portable potty was handicap accessible. It took us almost 2 hours to venture through the park by foot. This particular Safari is kid friendly. I didn't bring any kids but if you have small kids this is a safe place to bring them, as the animals are kept behind gates that allow you to pet and feed without getting knocked over. I enjoyed my time at this Safari, they did an excellent job making it something everyone could enjoy, regardless of age, physical capabilities, and other important factors that typically prevent a person from enjoying something like this. Although this Safari is tucked away with very little in the immediate area, there are plenty of other things within a 30 mile radius to do (if you're traveling from out of state). Some of the attractions are not well advertised, but should be, so stop to pick up event pamphlets and flyers to see what else makes this general area...
