This is an all day experience that brings with a trip out to Springfield to catch a late 1800's train ride to Lima. Tickets are hard to get and this is a well attended trip. The volunteers are passionate about trains and Ohio history, and so they add their own tidbits of info to the journey. There is a train bridge that is at tree top height and that kinda skeeved me out because it is all pretty old tech. The schedules are tightly adhered to, and the dining cart had fantastic coffee. I should also mention the photo buffs that chase along the train route to take pics and video at every chance. They do this down and back along the whole trip (9 hours). Read moreThis exhibit contains a "Super Power" advanced steam locomotive concept prototype the 2-8-4 Berkshire; which was built in 1949 by the Lima Locomotive Works company and then retired in 1958. Massive in size and almost majestic in its protected viewable enclosure with its attached tinder car, followed by a wooden box caboose car, and then a Nickel and Plate Business Passenger Car all restored.
