This is a great place for RV camping! The staff is super nice and helpful and the facilities are clean, neat, and well maintained. The park is beautiful, and even the other campers were very nice and quiet. We arrived late and the staff was great, they left a note for us and it was super easy to check in a little late in the day. This is a great park, with great people! I would give it 6 stars if I could.

TSP is a hidden east texas gem. It's a smaller lake but the hiking trails and scenery make up for it.

Southside Day Use Area (Group Picnic Area #2) is a picnic area in Tyler State Park (no reservation required.) There are two sets of picnic tables here--one has about four tables and the other has six. Each group has a single waist-high grill. There is at least one water faucet in the area that I can remember. The smaller group of tables is in the shade; the larger group gets more sun.

This area has its own parking lot and sits just above the hiking-only Lake Shore Trail that wraps all the way around the lake. It's also next to a fishing pier. The only trash can in this area is on the pier, but there are multiple dumpsters you'll pass when driving out of the park.

Southside is on the opposite side of the lake from the designated swimming area and park store/boat rental buildings. You can get to these on foot using the Lake Shore Trail but it will be a little bit of a walk (it's a mostly flat and...
