I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding an upsetting experience I had at your store on Monday, June 30, specifically involving staff at the sandwich bar and a supervisor (whose name may have been Bob or David). I came in to order a roast beef sandwich, which I then took outside to eat at one of the picnic tables. Halfway through eating the first half, I realized there was no roast beef in the sandwich. I checked the second half — which I had not yet touched — and confirmed it also had no beef. I calmly returned inside and explained the issue to the sandwich bar staff. To my surprise, they insisted the beef had been included. I then showed them the untouched half as proof that it was not. After some back-and-forth, they agreed to remake the sandwich. While waiting, I overheard one of the employees telling another that I had removed the beef myself and brought the sandwich back, essentially accusing me of dishonesty. I was shocked and told them directly that I had heard the accusation and found it very upsetting. The employee said she would speak to her supervisor. When the supervisor arrived, I again explained the situation. He agreed to have the sandwich remade. Up to this point, the situation was tense but manageable. However, a few minutes later, he came back and loudly asked if I had “yelled” at one of the workers. I explained that while I had been upset and my voice may have risen slightly, I had just been accused of lying, which is a serious and hurtful accusation. At that point, the supervisor began yelling at me in front of other customers, demanding that I “get out of the store” repeatedly in an aggressive and intimidating manner. I tried to explain that I was upset because I had been mistreated, but he refused to listen. I was left feeling publicly humiliated and physically intimidated. This incident was handled in an entirely unprofessional and unacceptable manner. A simple error — forgetting to include meat in a sandwich — was escalated into a hostile confrontation due to poor customer service and a complete lack of conflict resolution skills. I’ve always thought of Bantam Market as a welcoming place, but this experience has seriously damaged my view. No customer deserves to be treated this way, regardless of the situation. Mistakes happen — but how they are addressed makes all the difference. I sincerely hope this matter is brought to the attention of upper management or ownership. The sandwich bar staff could benefit from basic customer service training, and the supervisor in question urgently needs both customer service and anger...

Read moreThe best supermarket I have ever shopped at - and this is coming from an ex-new Yorker. If you enjoy gourmet cooking, you can be pretty sure that Bantam Market will have the ingredients. The store has excellent wifi, so you can decide on a great dish then and there. The staff is courteous, pleasant and very well trained, and the check-out is super fast- if there is a line, the manager immediately adds more cashiers. They accept most smartphone payment systems, so you don't even have to wait for the chip-card approval delay (I told you, I'm an...
