I live in Macon and have travelled to Indian Springs at various times. It seems every time I have been there, the museum is closed. I was attending the Bluegrass weekend at Dausett Trails. As I was leaving, I decided to check and see if it was open.

I was very lucky as the museum was open. Two gentlemen were just waiting for someone to show up and walk through the museum. The hotel has been fully restored and looks as it did during the mid 1800's. The gentlemen were extremely knowledgeable about the hotel, it's construction, local history involving the "Trail of Tears", the ghostly history of the owner and various information about the local community.

The tour was leisurely and very informative.

This hotel/museum was really awesome to tour and we are so glad that we went. The two men who gave the tours were just phenomenal and they were very informative and made the tour fun and interesting. It felt like the tour went by much faster than it did. There was a lot of history and it was so cool to hear about it and see it. It is only open on weekends though so you would need to plan accordingly. And they only take cash, so bring cash for your fee and for the gift shop.
