Indian Springs State Park campground is one of our all-time favorite places to camp. It’s not too far of a drive to I75. It’s in a lovely little town rich in history.

They only have Wi-Fi at the office and Verizon cellphone service is a bit spotty. You may have a weak hotspot signal if you have Verizon. They do have cable at some sites. Lots of trees. Not sure about satellite service. Maybe call directly to the front office to ask which sites have less tree coverage. You are in a heavily wooded area with lots of beautiful sites and water around you.

You do have to use a dump station even for “premium” sites. They have 20/30/50 amp service w/water at RV/trailer sites.

There’s a pretty cool very old graveyard on premises.

We camped for a couple of weeks during winter months, so it wasn’t very busy. It was pretty quiet most of the time. We did have to go to the dump station to dump after our first week because we didn’t bring dump cart with us. If you’re camping more than a week, bring your waste disposal wagon or be prepared to hookup just to dump.

Folks are super friendly and professional. We had the best service from staff and hosts. Campground office is in an old Victorian style building w/museum-like features inside. Lots of memorabilia, souvenirs, handmade items and locally canned foods.

Recommend the stagecoach ice cream/candy parlor and chef driven food at Yahola Creek Restaurant while you’re in the area. Nice little gas station with nicknacks.

You will need a gate code to enter any Georgia State Park after 10 pm. It’s imperative that you call the local office (not 1-800 number) ahead to ask for the gate code if you are going to arrive late. Highly recommend arriving before dark. There are hosts on site if you miss the office closing time.

Beautiful trails in the area. Lovely falls you can see while picnicking. In the summer, lots of people bring their families to put their toes in the shallow waters. Fishing is okay. Would ask about permits.

Everyone is respectful of quite curfew for the most part. You can hear some wildlife at night. Especially the geese on the water. That has been a trend at most of the state parks that have water.

Most sites are really spread out and roomy. There’s a few that might be a little difficult to get into if you’re backing in while someone else is parked across from you on another site. Maybe size up sites if you aren’t confident in backing in. The premium pull through sites are limited.

There’s a neat little courtyard maze for a tour of the world, outdoor arena stage, giant playhouse, and playground area that’s totally free nestled behind the ice cream parlor, gas station, and Yahola Creek. You can literally walk to those locations from the campground.

There’s a $5 parking fee. It’s a one time fee if you’re camping for several days. If you just wanna go hang out at the park and enjoy the trails and waterfall or take the kiddos to play in the water during the warm months. You don’t have to pay to camp to go enjoy the amenities.

Dauset Trails Nature Center is very close. While in the area, I highly recommend checking it out. They have beautiful trails with lots of trees and flowers during the warm months. Also, some live animals. There’s a horse trail as well. It’s all completely free. They do rely on help with donations.

This location is convenient to downtown Jackson and Forsyth. About 45 minutes or so from Macon. Maybe about 1-1/2 hours from downtown ATL. Close enough to Atlanta Speedway.

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds and historical venues in Georgia. A Georgia gem indeed.

We went on a camping trip here in the new loop site and we enjoyed our . We will come back for sure. Here are the things that we loved & things that weren’t super in love with as a family of 5 with kids aged 6,4 & 2.

Things we loved: the water feature was an absolute hit, and we spent multiple hours here every day. It is super slippery though and you really do need to be careful with little kids because you could fall. We stayed in the new loop and the bathrooms were absolutely beautiful and so clean. It’s the best bathroom experience we’ve ever had at a state park. Our kids rode a circle around the new loop with a bunch of kids that were staying there also every single night and we had so much fun. It was really nice to have new wood and picnic tables. The new park is also super cool and my kids really enjoyed that. Dauset trails nature center was such a big hit for us because it was free and it took up at least three hours. it’s literally five minutes down the road if that end was so clean and nice. We loved looking at all the animals.

Things we didn’t love: anytime we tried to go to the natural free water, there were people there, filling up gallons and gallons of water. It looks like they were running a business and we’re getting a bunch of water for free. Definitely didn’t look like people we wanted our kids around so we never even got to walk up to see it out of a three day trip. The mini golf really could be refurbished and the restrooms by it were absolutely disgusting. If you like walkability when you’re out of state park, this is not the one. We had to drive every single time we wanted to go do something. The Wi-Fi was absolutely terrible. We couldn’t Google or look anything up unless we were at the front office sitting in a chair outside and seating was very limited. The ice cream shop that they advertise so much was closed our entire three day visit and it was a bummer...

The natural features of this park in my opinion are the epitome of everything beautiful in Georgia. The natural sulfur springs have been believed by native Americans to have miraculous healing powers. For centuries they traveled hundreds of miles to this location for the benefits this spring possesses. It's believed that drinking this water cures many assignments from diabetes to cancer. It is wonderful for any sort of skin issues and has anti bacterial and anti fungal properties. That's the good... Now for the bad... Upon our last trip to the park the slide on our camper busted... Which meant my husband had to crawl up under and hand crank it closed. It happened to be raining on check out day. Check out time if I'm not mistaken was noon... My husband had been underneath on the wet ground in 40° weather for hours trying to get this thing closed.

At exactly noon DNR officers pulled up came up and said if we weren't out by 12:30 they would issue us a citation and that we could be charged with theft of services. They stood there along with Park management and treated us like criminals.

Prior to this incident this was my favorite state park. .I had fond childhood memories here with my Grandparents... But much like everything else has become in our nation they were more concerned with dominance and a dollar bill than anything else. Left me really sad that this one incidence tainted all my beautiful childhood memories of what at one time to me was a magical place. I'll still visit the park occasionally but I'll never camp here again because of the cold demeaning management and how they humiliated us. Very sad that people have no empathy for others anymore... Americans used to want to help one another because we knew that we were all stronger together. Now people have gotten so selfish they'll stand by and kick you while you're down......

💧 Indian Springs State Park. Get as much water as you want for free! Kinda of cool facts: spring water emerges from underground aquifers, where it's naturally heated by the Earth's geothermal energy. As the water travels through mineral-rich rocks, it absorbs various minerals, giving it a distinctive sulfur smell and a slightly warm temperature. #springwater #indianspringstatepark #naturalsprings

I’m putting y’all on! I’ve been going for a year, and I get an attitude every time I run out and have to buy water. I drink it, cook with it, and brew my coffee and tea with it. The natives said it was healing water, and I believe them!!
