Prior to our most recent visit, this restaurant has always been our go-to for date night or celebrations. It was a guarantee to be very good. Our latest visit proved otherwise. We started with the smoked pimento cheese dip. It arrived with a thick layer of burnt cheese on top. We couldn’t believe it was even brought to the table. I had the grouper off the specials menu. Despite the sauce on top, it tasted fishy with no other detectable flavor. I only had 4 bites. The mashed potatoes were tasteless as well. When our server asked if I wanted a to-go box I stated no. She then asked if it was fishy. “Some pieces have been very fishy. I’ll be sure to let the kitchen know.” I don’t blame her at all for this negative experience. She was a great server. But it would have been nice to have a manager come over and speak to us about our meal. With tip, we paid $100 for our meals: mine, my husband’s and my daughter (who ate from the child’s menu). We had one appetizer, 3 soda drinks and no alcohol. I know dining out is expensive. And I know that owners have no other choice but to pass this rising cost off to the consumer. However, if I’m paying $100 for dinner, I do expect it to have flavor, to not arrive burnt and to leave saying, “wow, that was an outstanding dinner.” We left disappointed and more than likely, we...
Read moreCrowded but not too bad. At 5pm Saturday of Fathers Day weekend. Waited about 30min. Sat our party of 6 in the middle of main dining room , difficult for 6 adults to sit comfortably while allowing room for servers and guests to walk past. Parties of 2 were seated at square tables for 6. We would’ve happily waited longer for a better table.
Service was quick, almost too quick… felt rushed. Would’ve liked to chill and visited with company while enjoying food and drink but nope … they wanted to turn the table over quickly . Drinks were meh… Bloody Mary was nothing like the pictures on web , no crab claw, no olives etc.
The bruschetta was pre assembled and waiting for service in the fridge, the bread was soggy and soaked with the strawberry juice and balsamic not at all a crostini . Same with salad, premade wilted spring mix lettuce and 2 slimy slices of cucumber.
Everyone who got prime rib loved it but they were out of the filet. Pimento cheese dip was good but had soggy bread and not enough crackers to finish the dip. Sea food boil had 5 shrimp 3 crab legs ,1 claw but plenty of potatoes and sausage for $39 ; not overly seasoned. I bet quality of food would’ve been better on a slower evening. Not bad for the area just seemed overwhelmed ,...
Read moreAmbiance was really nice as well as the service. I ordered the blackened salmon and had mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese as a side. I also ordered the half pound of shrimp and scallops as an appetizer.
The shrimp was presented well, but was far short of a half-pound. The winner here was the scallops as they were garnished perfectly and presented wonderfully with a pairing of orange and strawberry. Best I’ve had so far.
The blackened salmon was ok at best and fell short of the 8ozs as advertised. The tips were cooked perfectly and just a little crispy. Towards the center of the thick cut, it was not cooked as well and left a little to be desired as far as cooking temp went. The butter on top gave it an overall good taste.
The mashed potatoes were good, but a little dry considering their pairing with a white whine sauce. The macaroni and cheese wasn’t anything to write home about and was a little soupy in the bottom of the dish.
The desert chocolate cake with peanut butter filling was delish.
The overall best part of this meal was the appetizer of scallops and desert of cake. The rest was...
