I'm gonna give it 3 stars but I haven't seen it in person, cause we only had 40mins to hike and couldn't make it all the way to the cave.honestly we could have made it to the cave but thier was very bad directions and trail markings. If your looking for a short hike to a stunning view of head to Old man's cave, Rock house, or Ash cave (my personal favorite). Also wear some good tall supportive boots because this trail is steep parts to it! Thier is a frisbee golf thing thier to if your into that kinda thing. One reason why I docked it a star was because we got lost in the frisbee golf course and couldn't find the actual trail, they need to make better trail markers to differentiate between the frisbee golf and the actual trail. also another negative of this trail is that there were several openings to the road from the trail, a small child could easily Wonder onto the road from the trail and get hit! Only reason it gets 3 stars is because the old pool from the lodge is still thier! I grew up in that lodge and miss eating at...
Read moreWhispering Cave may have been one of my favorite places we visited during our time in Hocking Hills. I had heard of this cave from a little online research, but that was about it. Most people seem to visit the Upper Falls, Old Man's Cave, and the Lower Falls and then turn around. The path to Whispering Cave is absolutely more difficult than the path to Old Man's Cave, but I think it's worth the journey! It was so peaceful with the leaves rustling in the trees and the trickle of the small waterfall cascading over the edge of the cave....
Read moreMy husband Tony and I went hiking at Whispering Cave. The trailhead is located off the parking lot of the Hocking Hills State Park Lodge & Conference Center.
The trail dead ends at the cave and is only about 1/2 mile from the lodge itself but it's over the mountain and their are some steps that (remember) you have to climb back up to get back to your car!!!
The cave is more of a very long Shelf like over hang, not very deep inside like a cave or room. You could keep dry if needed but it's not a cave in my eyes! It's a moderate rough hike with rock formations and large roots you can trip on so be careful! But enjoy yourself!! I loved it! It's beautiful down there!!! Free to enjoy...
