We were deeply disappointed by our recent experience at this restaurant. As a family, we arrived looking forward to a pleasant meal, only to be denied service with a series of shifting excuses that felt inconsistent and, frankly, biased.
The receptionistâs attitude was dismissive from the beginning, and the managerâs handling of the situation only made things worse. Instead of offering solutions or hospitality, we were met with coldness and a lack of professionalism.
Itâs surprising to encounter this level of exclusion in a place that promotes itself as welcoming. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this restaurant under any circumstances. There are many other places that actually respect and value their guestsâthis is not one of them.

Good morning Mr. Tucker,
Thank you for your note. I appreciate your willingness to review the matter further.
We visited your restaurant on Saturday, September 28, 2025, at approximately 1:00 PM. Our party consisted of 8 adults and 8 children. ⢠Initial request: We asked if we could be seated as a group. We were told that the restaurant does not cater to groups of that size, which we understood. ⢠Follow-up request: We then asked if we could instead be seated as four separate families at different tables. This was also denied. When we asked for the reasoning, we received several different explanationsâamong them that a reservation was required, despite the restaurant being nearly empty at the time. ⢠Staff involved: ⢠The receptionist was a younger staff member, black hair, appeared to be wearing makeup. ⢠The manager who came over was approximately 5â8â with blondish hair. Unfortunately, we did not catch either of their names.
We left disappointed by both the lack of consistency in the reasons given and the way the situation was handled. What stood out most was that no alternative or accommodation was offered, even after we scaled down our request.
I hope this additional information helps with your review, and I would appreciate learning what actions you intend to take so other families do not have the same...
Read moreAs a fellow restaurant owner, I truly understand that things can go wrong and I always try to give the benefit of the doubt. It takes a lot for me to leave a negative reviewâbut I hope this helps others avoid the experience we had.
From the moment we walked in, it felt like amateur hour. The staff was friendly, but everything seemed chaotic. We arrived early and had a drink at the bar. The bartender was nice but clearly overwhelmed, even venting about the kitchen and saying sheâd been in tears the other day. While sitting there, we watched at least three tables dealing with problems with their orders. That shouldâve been our cue to leaveâbut we stayed.
Once seated, our server took our drink orders. I asked for a margarita. It finally arrived about 15 minutes later. We placed our food orders, and then waited over 30 minutes for them to arrive. Meanwhile, another nearby table was complaining to the manager.
To be fair, the food wasnât badâthe crab cakes were actually pretty tasty. But the experience went downhill fast from there.
When the bill came, we were stunned to see $42 charged for two margaritas. The server never asked what type of tequila I preferred, so I assumed it would be a house margarita. Instead, she rang in Jose Cuervo Blancoâsomething I would never knowingly pay $21 each for. I had to walk up to the hostess just to request a manager, who finally came over after dealing with yet another complaint. I pointed out the charge and made it clear I never would've ordered those drinks at that price. He made excuses at first but did end up discounting them by 50% since the server hadnât asked.
We sat there for quite a while waiting to settle the check. Eventually, we just left cash on the table and got out. And yesâI still tipped 18%, which is more than I ever would've expected for this level of service back when I waited tables.
Tourists beware: The Rock House is poorly managed, chaotic, and overpriced. Make sure you double-check your billâbecause theyâre clearly...
Read moreFrom the moment we stepped into the Rockhouse restaurant at the Lodge at Hocking Hills, we were captivated by the charming ambiance and welcoming atmosphere. However, it was our server, Sophie, who truly transformed our dining experience into something magical.
Sophie greeted us with a radiant smile that could light up the entire room. Her warmth and enthusiasm were palpable, making us feel like the most important guests in the establishment. She was not just a server; she was a culinary ambassador, guiding us through the menu with expert knowledge and genuine passion. Her recommendations were spot-on, showcasing the best of what Rockhouse has to offer.
Throughout our meal, Sophie displayed an impeccable attention to detail. She anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, ensuring our glasses were never empty and our plates were perfectly timed. Her delightful demeanor and engaging conversation made us feel like we were dining with an old friend rather than a server.
The food was extraordinary, but Sophieâs exceptional service elevated our experience to new heights. She took the time to share little stories about the dishes and the ingredients, which made each bite even more enjoyable. It was clear that she truly cared about our experience and wanted us to savor every moment.
As we concluded our meal, Sophie surprised us with a complimentary dessert, which was a sweet gesture that left us utterly delighted. Itâs rare to encounter someone with such genuine dedication to their craft, and we felt incredibly fortunate to have had Sophie as our server.
In short, Sophie is a shining star at Rockhouse restaurant. Her combination of professionalism, warmth, and charisma transformed our visit into a memorable celebration. We left not only with full bellies but also with full hearts, already planning our next visit, all in hopes of being welcomed by her radiant smile once again. Thank you, Sophie, for making our dining...
