Sunny Fields park is a dream of a playground... beautifully built and maintained, with fresh wood whips carpeting the lot. This is a childhood fantasy come to life... if your childhood fantasies included running around a Scandinavian themed wooden city, swinging on a tire swing, and clambering all over the wide variety of climbing equipment.
Most public playgrounds are pre-made, unoriginal plastic sets. Not Sunny Fields. You know what's best? The area has reasonable fencing, so you don't have to panic about Wandering Toddler Syndrome (but you're keeping an eye on them anyway, right?)
Parking is plentiful and free, the park is easy to find, and the only downside is the potential of a rogue ball from the adjacent ball field making its way into the playground.

Read moreMake sure to bring sunscreen because this park definitely gets a lot of sun and it is easy to spend a lot of time here. It's about a 30-minute drive for me, but it's worth it for the occassional visit. The big play structure, which looks like a castle, is multi-level and made out of mostly painted wood. There is another section that looks a bit like a farm with spring rider toys, a cottage-style house full of cats painted on the walls, and another area with farm animals painted on. It also has a softball field and a place to host a party outside, which happens frequently for the many times I've been here. There are usually other people here, so everyone of every age can be entertained during their visit. There's lots to do here and it's excellent...
