the most beautiful park I’ve ever visited 😍 #solvangcalifornia #solvangpark #castlepark

Sunny Fields park is a dream of a playground... beautifully built and maintained, with fresh wood whips carpeting the lot. This is a childhood fantasy come to life... if your childhood fantasies included running around a Scandinavian themed wooden city, swinging on a tire swing, and clambering all over the wide variety of climbing equipment. Most public playgrounds are pre-made, unoriginal plastic sets. Not Sunny Fields. The designers knew what children actually like - an open space with multiple levels, winding paths, climbing bars, balance bridges - and they built it. The designers also knew what parents need - places to sit and observe, with optional shade. There's an adjacent tot lot for younger kids that's absolutely magical, and an honest to Sigurd Viking longboat to play on. You know what's best? The area has reasonable fencing, so you don't have to panic about Wandering Toddler Syndrome (but you're keeping an eye on them anyway, right?) Parking is plentiful and free, the park is easy to find, and the only downside is the potential of a rogue ball from the adjacent ball field making its way into the playground. Sunny Fields Park is, quite simply, the perfect playground for everyone from toddler's to tweens... and maybe beyond.

great park, has a big field, a volleyball court, and of course a very large playground. we went here with our two boys who are seven and three and there was something for all of them including a lot of playground equipment you don't normally see like a tightrope walk, a little store, a Viking ship and some other goodies. The architecture of the playground is also really great because it matches solving and the Dutch village feel. there's also a picnic area and restrooms so you could just go there with a lunch and hang out while you kids play. there's a decent amount of shade in the picnic area and some other areas but they playground itself is pretty hot which is my only very small ding.

Make sure to bring sunscreen because this park definitely gets a lot of sun and it is easy to spend a lot of time here. It's about a 30-minute drive for me, but it's worth it for the occassional visit. The big play structure, which looks like a castle, is multi-level and made out of mostly painted wood. There is another section that looks a bit like a farm with spring rider toys, a cottage-style house full of cats painted on the walls, and another area with farm animals painted on. It also has a softball field and a place to host a party outside, which happens frequently for the many times I've been here. There are usually other people here, so everyone of every age can be entertained during their visit. There's lots to do here and it's excellent...
