North Head Trail — Attraction in Long Beach

I hiked the trail from McKenzie Head to the North head light house. We parked at the McKenzie Head trailhead and a short distance up the road is the NorthHead trailhead. The trail at first appears very inviting to bikes, but once it climbs the hillside it gets a little more challenging. This trail can be very muddy in the winter, but I have not seen it impassible.

I would not recommend this trail for anyone who isn’t a well seasoned hiker. The trail is wet and muddy in places along with many roots. There was a fallen tree we had to crawl under. If you do choose to take this trail, take plenty of water and plan an hour at least each way. We didn’t feel able to return to our auto on the trail so...
