It takes about half an 40 minutes to hike all of the trails. The prairie loop can get muddy. There are grass trails, mulch trails, and gravel trails. The trail is interesting since it goes through seven different ecosystems. You need to pay attention when you are hiking since I saw some poison ivy growing into the trail (which is narrower than what you find at forest preserves).

Best forest preserve in the area. You walk down into a small valley and up to the other side with a lake beyond. Well maintained narrow paths that put you close to nature. Many great wooden paths with help from the boy scouts. Also very well maintained. Saw the toad, frog and muskrat pictured. Have also seen deer and woodpecker. Only hope place doesn't get too popular.

Gorgeous scenery here! The natural trail that loops through the woods is a little over a mile long, but there's so many scenic spots along the way, including views of Salem Lake and bridge crossings in the woods. The trail was in great condition and there's different pathways you can take. Plenty of parking and good signage throughout the park.
