Beautiful Scenery. Easily Accessible. Great place for a day getaway and for all outdoor enthusiasts alike. Whether you want to Hike, Fish, Rock Climb, or enjoy a picnic, this is a place to go. It's located right by the Valles Caldera National Wildlife Preservation so if you walk in far enough don't be surprised if you come across Elk, Deer, Eagles, Hawks, Foxes, and Many More animals. Fishing is good here for Native Brown Trout with Artificial Flies and Natural Bait like worms and grubs. If you're a rock climber the choices are endless it seems like, not a climber myself but saw plenty of people enjoying themselves and overheard a couple groups talking about the opportunities there. I did see a lot of cliffs where you could see rock climbing equipment was used so that was also cool. A bit busy now during this 2020 COVID stuff, but towards the evening the human pressure slowed down...

This is such an awesome place for all people of all fitness levels. Trail is a little rocky in places but overall 99% flat. Lots of meadows and flowers, follows a creek, really just wonderful. It also connects to longer more difficult trails (see all trails app). Lots of families with small kids, adult couples/singles, few groups of teenagers, rock climbers, lots of places to stop and picnic or fish. Overall a splendid place to spend an afternoon or whole day. Also pack sunscreen since there are some fairly sunny areas, enough that if you burn easily you'll want some with you, and a good ride brimmed hat. Oh and lots of dogs, they should be leashesd but many people let their dogs go without one. No bathroom facilities or picnic tables so plan accordingly. Parking can seem wild, but even when it's crowded,...

Really beautiful and easy hike. There are stairs and some places with slight elevation increases and tree roots to go over, plus some bridges to step up onto. People with significant mobility issues would struggle but overall is a good all ages trail. It's really beautiful in summer and fall especially. If the main parking lot is full there's room along the road. No restrooms or picnic tables but both are plentiful in other areas on the road up. And there are plenty of places to picnic on the ground and play in the water. Most people had their dogs off leash which was a concern for us, but we were able to avoid them for the most part. We probably wouldn't bring our dog again for this reason, which is unfortunate because this is a great...

Great trail along the river, a little soggy during spring runoff. It's about 2 miles one way, 5 miles if you want to continue on the east fork jemez trail. Several bridge crossings and lots of places to rock climb. The rockhounding NM book directs readers to this trail for moonstone in the gravel bars along the river. There's tiny sand grain sized pieces everywhere, but don't expect to find anything much larger. Lots of people with their dogs, many end up off leash.
