Dockweiler Beach RV Park provided a very poor experience for me during my three day stay. There were so many things that went wrong! It's way too much to document in this review. The location right on the beach is great, however, there were many challenges including: Poor customer service Security concerns - Given the recent shooting and the clear direct access from a public beach, and the recent shooting at this beach location, I would have expected a greater presence of security. Having to call the police for folks sittle on my rig and assigned table after 11pm is unacceptable. The police came immediately, and I did notice an increase presence of the police the next day in the area. Inconsistency in "rules" - especially between the agency that runs the security at the first entrance and the agency that runs the RV park. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCES!!! Even forced to WALK from the security entrance to to my camper in HEELS because I was told my son needed to pay $13 just to drop me off!! Again, to much to write here, but I hope this is enough to let you know this was not a good experience!! Openness to/from a public beach - had a group of people around 10pm on a Friday night take over my table and were sitting on the back of my camper van. I felt the van moving which woke me up. I called the police to run them off. Dry Dock - Everyone has access to the bathrooms that are designated for dry docking. They have removed all but two grills for this end. You can not have additional cars and visitors have to part on the beach side and make a 1+mile walk to visit. No WiFi and poor cell reception Best location right on the beach, but when you have challenges such as this, it makes it not worth it. A true Tailgating Environment - If you like that, then this is the place for you!!
The only positive were two of the staff members in the office: James Johnson and Morgan Williams. Ryan Roberts also demonstrated excellent leadership in taking in all the information related to my concerns and also issuing a refund.
There should be a detailed Customer Service Training for MANAGERS provided to Isamar Bonilla. She appears to be very knowledgeable, which is important for a supervisor, however, there is a way to show up and a way to provide service. Both of these leader competencies are glarilingy a problem. Being "fast" "flipid" and borderline "rud" in what a person says and does, is not a demonstration of good service.
There is more that I could share about this poor experience, however, I anticipate it will serve little purpose. This post is more so for those who plan a trip to this RV Park. I do hope...
Read moreThis is an absolute must-visit location for anyone traveling in a RV. One of the very few RV Parks located right at the edge of the beach, and absolutely the least expensive of them all. There are no RV Parks anywhere in the area -- so it's hard to beat the great location just west of the LAX (Los Angeles) airport. You get beach access and a view for about $60 per night that beats what you'd get if you owned a $20 million dollar home in the area. Water, sewer, and power (30 amp; 50 amp) are included in the price, and they have spots for trailers as well as spots dedicated only to Class A rigs. 40' length is about the most you'll want to attempt to squeeze into any of their spaces -- although there are eight spots that can accommodate larger rigs (45' spaces)... but those spaces fill up fast. Reservations can be made 90 days in advance of your arrival date. In addition to full hook-ups, there is an additional dump station on site as well as a laundromat. Each site also includes a BBQ pit (for cooking, not for campfires) as well as a picnic table. Showers and public toilet facilities are centrally located in the park as well. The biggest down-side to this park is the limited space at each site. If you have a big-rig you might be pressed to find room for your toad (personal car/vehicle) on your site. If you can't park your personal vehicle within the "lines" of your site, you'll have to park it along the back edge of the park, which fills up fast and is also at high risk for dings... since the last row of big rigs has to back up in order to leave, and space on the road is limited so it's not unheard of someone backing into parked cars back there. That aside, it's a great location for family, gatherings, etc. If you're more into quiet sunsets and peaceful evenings with the windows wide open -- you might want to re-think a stay at Dockweiler. Children (and adults) ride around in bikes making noise (playful noise) up until "quiet time" which isn't always super quiet. If you go on a big party weekend, you might hear people hooting and hollering out at one of the many fire pits along the beach, but for the most part it's a moderately quiet park. Also remember that you're just west of the LAX airport... so if you don't like the sound of roaring jets every now and then you might not like this place. If your rig has good insulation, and you're not a super-light sleeper, you...
Read moreHere is my honest opinion of the Dockweiler RV Park. I booked this RV Park as I wanted to get to LA in our family motor home from Texas. I checked in late, not a problem, security was there to assit. As soon as I opened to door and parked I could smell the Recycling plant next door. I was bumbed out but to be honest, that was the only time I was able to smell it. I stayed 4 nights and never bothered me again. The RV Spot was okay, a bit small but you can manage. I was in spot 10, close to the restrooms, showers, which were very clean my entire stay. No complaints there. I stayed the week before Thanksgiving. One of the biggest complaints I read before staying here was the Air Plane Noise. I booked before reading the reviews and once i read them i was tempted to cancel. I am glad I didnt. The airplane noise is loud! After 30 minutes i tuned it out, same with my family and dogs. To be honest that is the only downside to this park. The noise. Once you are in your RV its less, once you turn on your TV you can barely hear it. I love this park because its very close to the beach. My mom, and sister stuggle to walk and they walked about 200 feet to the beach. Huge plus for me. The other awesome thing here were the fire pits in the beach. They are allowed and it was awesome for myself and toddler daughters. The water was okay cool and beach was nice. Something I noted was that I walked over to the store north of the RV Park and I could hear the planes alot more than in my RV spot even the RV beach. Then I walked south of the RV park and the planes were slightly less loud. So when I go back will stay further south, a little less planes noise. I am not sure if there are showers closer to the south I think I may have seen some. Not sure if they were showers, maybe toilets only. I would rate this place a 4 but for the plane noise. I really liked it the only downside for me were the planes, I am sure that with out thanksgiving weekend there are far less planes but with out this its a pretty cool beach. I think your expectation has to come in knowing that you are in a major metropolis, RVing and its prime real estate pretty cheap with a noise factor, the smell for me was none and with in a few days the planes were like...
