When I first came to see the elephants at this zoo, there were three elephants. Billy, Gita and Ruby. Sadly, they died. But luckily, Billy survived. Then one day, they created an exhibit called "Elephants of Asia." Billy used to live with Tina, Jewel and Shaunzi. Now, he only lives with Tina. However, I found two new elephant cows. Their names are Mari and Vaigai. Vaigai is about Billy's age and they would seem like a perfect match.

We saw one very large elephant with tusks. I don't think I have ever seen one so tall! The exhibit where they inhibit was large and had a nice little water area

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS ZOO. They’ve been known for neglecting their animals since the 60’s and even disregarded the health of their elephant Gita until she died without receiving help even though a “caretaker” noticed her distress far in advance. The male elephant Billy has been there since 1989 and shows obvious signs of distress. Many have taken it to city council to release him to a 15 acre forestry sanctuary in Northern California but the zoo denies him of that freedom in order to use him for breeding...

The enclosure for the elephants is very nice, they've got a lot of room to roam, and you can view from multiple areas within the zoo. Unfortunately, on this occasion we didn't see any, even though we stopped at several viewing areas over the course of the afternoon. In fact, a lot of the major animals went unseen this day. No lions. What happened to the hippos, are they gone? They were favorites for me. Pretty...
