Griffith Park Dog Park — Attraction in Los Angeles

4 stars because there's actually a parking lot! So that's always cool but the vibe of the park was semi-culty...people were gathered in a big group and greeted each other as they came in. It was mine and my dog's first time here and no one said hi or asked about him the way that dog parents often do. Which is fine but there was definitely an "inside group". Another thing I noticed was that there were many small dogs in the "large dog only" area and one of them got aggressive with my dog (who is SUPER FRIENDLY) and when my dog defended himself (AFTER BEING BIT REPEATEDLY by an aggressive medium sized dog) his owner said my dog shouldn't be there because he's too young to be neutered. I understand that this can create a power struggle but that wasn't an issue with any of the other dogs there and has never been an issue with any other dog before. I proceeded to check my boy to make sure he wasn't physically hurt and then we left the park. We made our way to our usual (Silver lake) dog park and spent about an hour there, no...

1st time at the park, plenty of natural shade under the trees, there are some lawn chairs and concrete benches.

Ground at this park is well soil, so no grass which makes it easier to clean up the waste!!! , cons being mud after it rains.

Both sides have a water spigot to fill up your dogs water bowl.

Restroom is a porta potty so be prepared.

overall the park is located near the zoo , Griffin park, dog park has two area, one stating it was for small or timid dogs (right side) and the left side what i can only assume as for big dogs and social dogs.

Dog had a Blast Running around chasing others and being chased.

After it gets dark theres no lights at all & cars will pull up all the way to the back in the parking lot in twos & then leave after 10 min or so. Its pretty fishy. It happens all the time. Its dead after dark in the park & i think these cars expect it to be empty. I always thought it was drug deals. Especially the last time i went, there were 5 cars & one car keeping watch, he even followed me briefly after i left then turned back. Theres only one place for him to go as it dead ends at the dog park.
