Shane's Inspiration was founded in April 1998 by Catherine Curry-Williams and Scott Williams in memory of their son Shane, who passed away two weeks after birth. Had Shane lived he would have spent his life in a wheelchair. When the Williams' discovered that he would have no public park in which to play, they made it their mission to build this very special playground, where children with disabilities can play side-by-side with their able-bodied peers at the highest level of their ability. The goal is to enhance the emotional, physical and social development of all children, while providing an environment where compassion and acceptance can flourish. With the belief that playing in a playground is the birthright of every child, the Williams' and co-founder Tiffany Harris rallied friends, family and community to help raise money to build this extraordinary play environment for the children of Los Angeles. "Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever...

Good parking. Lots of different things to do for different ages. Parks department very helpful for planning parties. I’d say the only downsides are that the playground is a little close to parking lot/open road if your kid wanders easily and doesn’t have a water feature or excavator but other than that it has pretty much every great feature I’ve seen at any playground in the city, plus some I haven’t seen anywhere else like the multiple sizes of basketball hoops and a little hidden racetrack for hot wheels at the top of the toddler play equipment (make sure to pack your own cars). Awesome that it is so accessible to special needs kids and has a music instrument area and a huge sandbox and tons of different kinds of swings. Lots of bathrooms though very campsite/outdoorsy. I have spent so many hours there with my toddlers and the view of the mountains surrounding always...

It’s in the park which is very nice and scenic which is always nice . The children have a lot of fun there . I used to take my children to play there when they were young during the week as well to break the monotony of the homework school week . It always refreshed them especially in the scenic surroundings. Let’s step back in time with the vintage merry go round thats been there for years since I was a child . Is also conveniently located on the grounds as well and is always the children’s favorite ! Puts a smile on their faces and yours every time 😊Not to mention the snack shop conveniently located literally a few steps from the merry go round selling hot dogs 🌭 , popcorn 🍿 ice cream🍦 , soft drinks and other goodies . Heads up - Cash only at this snack shop . Your children will have some of the sweetest memories here as I and now my children do . Just like the...

Fun ADA accessible playground with lots of super fun rides. My kids call the very unique merry-go-round in the center “the subway” and if u see it for yourself you’ll understand why. Fairly large green area with a moderate slope running North to South. Parking to the East and West of the park A limited number of picnic tables and the popularity of this place for parties and events means if you want to host something you’ll have to show up early and compete for a spot. This place gets very busy on weekends so finding a parking spot can price challenging.

Honestly, one of the best parks I've ever been to! They have equipment for all ages and abilities. The park was extra busy, but there are so many play toys that everyone always has something fun to do without waiting for a turn. We stopped just to eat our lunch there and ended up playing for awhile. Even my grumpy teenagers couldn't resist the novelty of their cool play structures. Very fun!!! This place was truly inspiring in the way it shows all of us that inclusion DOES matter!!
