Laurel Canyon Dog Park — Attraction in Los Angeles

I don't why people are complaining about this park because it has no grass. It's in arid part of the state and we're in a 5 year drought. A few dog owners are in their own world talking or looking at their phones oblivious to what's going on around them and oblivious to what their dogs are doing. Watch your dog and pick up your dogs waste. I had one incident on the weekend where I saw a dog bite my dog in his hind quarters as he was chasing his ball that was deep enough that he broke the skin and left a 2 inch gash on my dog. I told the owner who was walking 25 feet away what happened. Her response was my dog doesn't bite and walked away. No acknowledgement what so ever. I caught up with her on the other side of the park to show her the wound. She said she was a nurse and that was a old would even though it was a fresh wound. She said she has many experts and dog trainers who will say her dog doesn't bite. She refused to show me her contact information. So, I took a photo of her dogs license. Luckily, the wound didn't require stitches and healed on it own but there is a scar for life. Just great for my long-legged pupper! Lots of space to run & also be independent if he's not feeling social. Most everyone is friendly. A few oddballs that come to play only with their dog & won't let them socialize; or don't have them fixed; or bring small children into the dog area. A few too many dog walkers who can't keep up with all the dogs they bring & they keep unpredictable hours too; they used to leave by the afternoon to give owners a chance to watch their own dogs. I really wish they would put up some lights for evening use, but I understand it's in the canyon so there's probably some wildlife that wouldn't appreciate that. I've been taking my dogs here since 1995. Unfortunately because of the drought in California it's not all grass anymore and even when there was grass it was hard to maintain because of all the dogs. My dog loves going here and I can let it off leash and it runs around like crazy. Some of the people don't like coming in the morning because there are several dog walkers that bring at least 10 dogs each. I actually like coming here because my dog loves interacting with all the other dogs. And the dog walkers happen to be very responsible dog walkers and I've never had a problem with them.
