The Boxley Place Inn made for a great stay in Louisa, Va. We attended a wedding at a local venue and didn't want to drive home on "country dark" roads at night. The Inn is well maintained and has plenty of historical charm. It's situated very close to Louisa's quaint Main St. A great place that far exceeds what you get with a hotel chain option.

One incredible stay. Excellent room, lovely staff, interesting art and decorations all over the property. Only stayed for one night. Really got some excellent use out of the room. I was glad for the extra washcloths. We'll stay again.

Fantastic bed and breakfast. Charming. They are near an active train track, it just adds to the history and charm.

I wish I could rate it negative stars! I have never in my life been treated by ANY B&B, hotel, air b&b or place of business for that matter more unprofessionally IN. MY. LIFE. My husband and I came to town for a very shocking and unexpected close death in our family and accidentally booked our room for 3 weeks too early. We called a woman named Joe whom was posted on the door. She was initially nice and understanding but unbeknownst to us misleading because she seemed to have been trying to make it right by offering to cancel the existing booking and offering us an available room for the evening. Keep in mind we drove 5 hours from philly and got stuck in traffic several times so we finally arrived at 8pm. She told us she would be right over to let us in 30 minutes. One hour later she shows up and calls us to tell us that she cant change the room and that she did not have to answer the phone. She claims that it's our fault because we did not read our confirmation email saying that check in time was between 4pm-6pm. I told her she could have just said that when we first spoke to her and she began to get loud, belligerent and wouldnt let me get a word out edge wise. She claimed that we owed her an apology for not reading our emails which the most laughable thing I had ever heard ANYone running a place of business ever say in my life. This woman spoke over me the entire conversation and performed in what had to be the most immature way I had ever witnessed. I could not understand where her hostility had come from or where it was going. We drove away and got another hotel room in minutes. About 5-10 minutes later Joe called us back and said "I thought about it and I want to apologize but it's a shared responsibility and you should apologize too". NOT an apology if you ask me. When I told her I wont apologize for her behavior she got belligerent and quite ghetto once again, talking over me, yelling and screaming telling me she doesnt have time for all of this possibly forgetting that SHE called ME. Safe to say this place should be shut down for their treatment of...

When looking for elegant, yet affordable lodging within half an hour of Charlottesville, Virginia, I recommend you book a room at Boxley Place Inn in Louisa. Situated on the edge of the historic downtown, the Inn is within walking distance of several restaurants and shops. More than just room and board, at Boxley Place Inn you will feel pampered to by the cordial and welcoming staff while enjoying plenty of privacy in this serene setting. During our most recent stay, Ann met us on the large front porch where, after she introduced us to a fellow guest from Virginia Beach, we were invited into the beautifully appointed mansion and led to our ground level room, Ethel’s Suite, complete with fireplace and claw foot tub. What could be more romantic than a plush queen-sized bed to sleep in and softly filtered sunlight to greet you in the morning? How about quiche from a local bakery for breakfast? This and an array of cereals, muffins, and bagels along with all the extras are presented at each guest’s place at the table. Coffee, tea, water, and snacks are also available throughout the day. Breakfast is served at the large antique table in the dining room at your requested time. As I’m sure you can tell by now, we love to stay at Boxley Place Inn. We stay several times a year and never tire of wandering about the common rooms and exploring historical photos and documents or just relaxing on the porch or deck with a...
