Best Brisket I have ever tasted! After driving all day and getting our camper set up, we ran into Louisa for a quick bite, around 7:30 pm. We chose Country Boys BBQ, walked in around 7:40 pm not realizing they closed at 8:00 pm. We had the best friendliest waitress, never once felt rushed, she made great recommendations (Sliced brisket sandwich with tots, I had Mac n cheese, husband had cucumber salad). She had our food out in no time and never let our glasses get empty. My husband asked for toasted Texas toast for his brisket sandwich (normally it comes on a bun) and they obliged. We have been back and have tried the bacon straws, pulled chicken, pulled pork, wings and again the sliced brisket, Everything is delicious! The meat is tender, full of flavor and juicy. 100% recommend this restaurant! Clean, comfortable atmosphere, and friendly staff. I must add desserts were pretty great too, banana pudding and cheesecake! if you are in Louisa VA, I highly recommend this restaurant and check their FB page...
Read moreMore than anything, I'm thankful that there is a new restaurant in Louisa since there aren't many options in the area for quality food instead of fast food.
I tried the brisket, pulled pork, hush puppies, mac 'n cheese, green beans, and cornbread muffin. Overall, everything I had was okay. The meat was smokey, moist, and of good quality. The sides were nothing special except for the hush puppies, which I liked better than most I've had.
They offer two BBQ sauces at this time. One vinegar-based and one sweet. Oddly, it seems that they don't offer something in between, more in line with a "normal" (not sweet, not vinegar-based) BBQ sauce. That isn't a deterrent since the meat is tasty without adding sauce.
So far, I've dined in and have also gotten take out. Service was very good and the time it took for my orders to be filled was very good as well.
I wish the owner/operator of this business the best of luck and am interested to see how the business and menu evolves...
Read moreI decided to give the place a chance ans see what they had. Remember Virginia is not know for BBQ. I tried a combo plate of briskit and pulled chicken. Mac& cheese . The briskit was a bit lean and was dry. No real taste or notable rub on the outside. No Ajous. The chicken was supposed to be pulled.. it was chopped and diced. Not pulled. This makes for very dry chicken if it sits . And yes it was dry. Was not impressed with the chicken at all. The mac & cheese was plain ,but ok. The corn bread was good though. Being a chef and pitmaster I always try to check out a place to find some good eats. I left leaving food on a plate. Not something I like to do. The sauce was not the best, but not the worst I tried. They just need to learn how to marry different herbs and spices to create some flavor that hits all 5 of your taste buds...
