The Davidson Mesa trailhead occupies a high point in the local geology and provide one with a fairly commanding view in most directions but especially to the west toward the Flat Irons and Rockies beyond. As the sun was setting, and the sky was clear, the various colors of purple orange and gold began to Appear. It seems to be a beautiful park – well-maintained and cared for by locals and governmental authorities. It is these kinds of parks that make the Denver Boulder area so special for urban and suburban citizens. Read moreWonderful location for a run, walk, or ride. Relatively smooth gravel & dirt trails. About a 3 mile loop, with shorter cutoffs available. Nice views of the Flatirons. Trails are uncrowded. Since there is a dog park at the trail head, there are fewer dogs on the trail than might otherwise be expected. A pedestrian tunnel connects Davidson Mesa to an additional trail around Harper Lake that is about a 1 mile loop.

However over the years the city has made some changes to the parking and the park. they now close the park due to "muddy conditions" which is understandable, but bound to happen when the dog park is a dirt/grass field.
